Hi Terri. I’ve stalked this page for awhile. I got a herpes igg/igm test about 4 years ago. I was negative for igg positive for igm. I’ve ignored these results for awhile, because of how bad the igm is my exposure during that time was very low risk. I had no oral or vaginal sex in months. I did have a encounter with a guy who gets cold sores, but he just fingered me, and sucked on my nipples. Fast forward I let go of igm because of lack of symptoms, and I have sex with two guys condoms included. I gave one guy oral sex for a short period of time. I never received. At some point I got oral from a guy who gets cold sores once for like 1 minute. At some point I had irritation on one side months later, but doctors couldn’t see anything. So I was never swabbed. I think if anything I could have hsv 1. Since knowing was exposed. I never had symptoms like that again, just nerve stuff but I’m pre-diabetic. I also get irritated around periods. I was going though a stressful event and I felt a warming sensation down there but Noticed nothing. I was a little red last week so I decided to get a blood test just for hsv 2. Because I’m okay with hsv 1 at this point. I have been in a serious relationship for over a year no condoms. We never asked each other statuses. I got a number that said 2.76, and then another that said 3.2. It was lab corp idk why they would do two of the same tests. It was blood from the same day. Not sure how the antibodies would change per same blood sample. The supplemental lab corp was negative for both. Do antibodies increase as time goes on? Should I get another igg, western blot? I’ve only had unprotected sex with two people. If I had it for years wouldn’t it be much higher? My boyfriend is unconcerned, and hasn’t been blood tested. I’ve had negative swabs in the past. This is really upsetting as I am still thinking of being a mom. Im almost 30, and I’ve had casual oral. But never casual condomless sex. Not sure if I should believe supplementals or?

It is good that the suppplemental was negative – there is quite good agreement between people who get a negative supplemental and subsequently get a negative western blot. You could do the blot if you want more confirmation that you are not infected with HSV 2.
