So, about 14 weeks ago I made a mistake at a Asian massage parlor where the lady started playing with my penis with her hand and rubbing her breasts on my penis, then she put a condom on me and I had penetrative vaginal sex with her. The condom was fine afterward or appeared to be. And to be honest the exposure was brief 1-2 minutes tops.
Afterward freaked out and saw the doctor two weeks later thinking I was feeling tingling or itching in my groin. He checked and said I was fine and recommended I get tested later, 6-12 weeks or if I had any symptoms come back in.
Couldn’t wait and got tested at 4 weeks. 10 panel std test from labcorp at stdcheck.com All negative aside from hsv1 – I get cold sores on my lips twice a year for decades now. Hsv2 was negative or said <.91.
Still worried after this I got tested at 7 weeks … Same results. Saw the doctor after both test and he doubts I caught anything, but each time checked out my groin area for me and said I was okay. He recommended get tested at 3 months and move on with it. So, again get tested at 12 weeks and same result all negative aside from hsv1. Saw the doctor after this and he said no more testing (though he said he would test me but didn’t see why).
I still worry about this encounter now at 14 weeks. I sometimes feel tingling on my penis or just discomfort in my groin area. Though no rednes or lessons … And I continually check my penis – which my doctor said was me being paranoid. Should I test anymore? When I reached out to stdcheck they said their igg test was conclusive at 12 weeks and no need for further testing. I see on the Internet 12-16 weeks, not sure what to believe.
By the way I have a new partner I would like to have sex with but worry about giving her anything or explaining any of this to. -

First of all, the encounter was very low risk – short and fully condom protected. Good job.
Second, the screening test for HSV 2 is quite accurate at 12 weeks so I would believe that. With the western blot confirmatory test, you need to wait 16 weeks for an accurate results because it looks for more proteins associated with the antibody and all that takes longer to make. The screening test only looks for one protein.Terri

Thanks for your response Terri. Appreciate it. So, still worried I took another test at 14 week past exposure, this time just for hsv2 since I know I have oral hsv1. The result again from labcorp was negative. My questions are:
1. Is 14 weeks enough time to trust this negative result?
2. Do I need anymore testing at this point?
3. Sometimes I still feel discomfort in groin area, given he multiple negative results this must be something else?
4. Sometimes I see redness randomly on my penis especially after masturbation … That isn’t a sign of herpes is it?
Thanks -

Yes, I believe that 14 weeks is adequate in your situation, for sure
No
Yes, it must be something else, I think
No, random redness on your penis after masturbation is not abnormal at all.Terri

Terri,
Sorry to continue this but I remain concerned about this one exposure. Also, I feel what I can only describe as discomfort in my groin area and I check the area multiple times a day.1. How accurate is the 14 week negative test? Have you ever seen anyone test positive after 14 weeks? The place I took the test stdcheck said it was conclusive and 99% accurate.
2. Should I consider further or different testing at this point? Meaning take another Elisa test or try a different test?
3. Would you recommend a western blot in my situation? Given the negative hsv2 Elisa tests through labcorp at 4,7,12,14 weeks? Should I try another test at 16 weeks?Sorry this is the only time if my life I made this type of mistake and it worries me to no end. And then I get on the Internet and worries me even more. I have days where I feel good and ready to put this past me but days in which I can’t. Sorry for going on like this.

The screening ELISA test is 98% accurate compared to the gold standard western blot at about 12 weeks.2. Should I consider further or different testing at this point? Meaning take another Elisa test or try a different test?
If you want more reassurance, I would advise the western blot. Sometimes it’s worth it, just to get that testing done
3. Would you recommend a western blot in my situation? Given the negative hsv2 Elisa tests through labcorp at 4,7,12,14 weeks? Should I try another test at 16 weeks?See above.
