Hello,
A little over a month ago I engaged in intercourse with a prostitute. Unprotected oral, protected vaginal. This did not last very long.
Four weeks later I tested for STDs and got negative for HSV1 and 1.07 for HSV2.
If this equivocal result is positive, I plan on doing the Western Blot after 12 weeks. If it is negative I will retest in another 4-6 weeks.
I am still awaiting the confirmation test for the 1.07 HSV2, but I am panicking. My anxiety has spiked severely, to the point where I struggle to function. In the four weeks before testing I did not have any symptoms. As soon as I got the equivocal result, I started panicking and having anxiety attacks. This was earlier in the week. I was hoping you could answer the following:
1. What are your thoughts on the 1.07 after four weeks, with no lesions? Do you think I have reason to be optimistic?
2. Some of the symptoms I had at the start of the week have gone away, especially as I have gotten my anxiety under control. I have had two doctors examine my genitals this week and they noticed nothing unusual or herpetic. They both separately told me they believed my symptoms were psychosomatic after too much time on the internet. Please let me know if any of the following symptoms are concerning:
– Two red dots on tip of penis after two weeks, that I thought were bug bites. They were gone within a day or two and didn’t hurt, but they freaked me out.
– Pelvic/lower back pain
– Muscle twitches in legs
– Frequent Urination
– Testicular Pain
– Tingling in the thighsThank you very much.

To provide more detail, this is the first time I’ve had a sexual encounter in over a year and I have previously tested negative in the past. I have had another STD before, but not herpes, not even HSV1.

Also, if I am not located in the united states, can I still order a western blot?

you definitely should be optimistic!2. Some of the symptoms I had at the start of the week have gone away, especially as I have gotten my anxiety under control. – Tingling in the thighsThese symptoms are very non-specific and by themselves, with no sores, they would not worry me and some of them, like testicular pain and muscle twitches and frequent urination are in no way associated with herpes infections.
