I’m concerned my partner has hsv2 and did not disclose.
While I was diagnosed with HSV1 last year (before my current partner and I met), I recently had legions develop inside my mouth only (not on lip/chin like first outbreak a year ago…which was classified as a “severe” initial outbreak at the time with swollen glands, fever, chills, etc).
This recent oral outbreak lasted 2 weeks With swollen glands, fever, chills, etc.
1. I have not had any genital symptoms/outbreaks. Could it be, even though I’ve had vaginal and oral unprotected sex with my partner, that I contracted HSV2 only in my mouth with no genital outbreak?
2. Is it possible to just have severe recurrent outbreaks of HSV1? I thought the first was the worst.
Thank you!
You were diagnosed with HSV 1 by swab test? And you are sure it was also typed as HSV 1? And have you had the lesions inside your mouth swab tested to know if they are actually herpes or not? Could they be canker sores? It is certainly possible to have recurrences of HSV 1 orally, yes and they usually aren’t as bad as the first one. If your partner has HSV 2 and you gave him oral sex, an oral infection with HSV 2 is possible though not likely. To find out, you should have the intraoral lesions swab tested to fine out for sure.
