Hsv2 positive igg, should I get western blot?

Hello Terri,

I have recently tested positive for hsv2 with an index of 4.06. It’s my understanding that there is a higher likelihood of this being a true positive result. However I have also read about people that have had even higher numbers and had a negative western blot but that is anecdotal information. I wanted to get your opinion if western blot would be worth it. I have never had any outbreak or at least none that I am aware of.

I have seen false positive western blots with people with much higher IgG results than yours – a 17, several 12’s, 8, 9s.
Because of this I know recommend people with index values like yours to get western blot tests, yes
