Hey terri
So about 6 month ago I thought I was having my internal outbreak of HSV2(small little pimple with white pus inside on the middle of my shaft accompanied by flu like symptoms and swollen lymph nodes) then went to CityMD to get a full panel and my results for HSV2 came back positive . I then asked my girlfriend at the time to go get tested and she came back positive as well.I pretty sure she gave it to me because I was celibate for four years since my last relationship.what I didn’t know is that you need to wait At least 12 weeks to take a IGG tests(don’t know my IGG score don’t say it on the sheet) so times goes by thinking that I have it and I build up the courage to go to my PCP 5-6 months later. And she makes me retest. My labcorp results came back negative. We retest again 1 week later and it Came back negative again. Haven’t had any suspected outbreaks since I thought I was having my first one. What do you think of this whole situation? My PCP is telling to run one more IGG test next month just to make sure. And what could have made the first false positive? I don’t have HSV1 And I’ve had the chicken pox when I was a kid. Everyone keeps telling me IGG tests are unreliable but they say they are 92% affective at catching Hsv2 after 12 weeks and to get 2 tests negative is really alarming. One more thing my girlfriend assumes she’s asymptomatic because she’s never had an outbreak. -

I’m not sure what to make of your testing as the results conflict.Do you know the index value of the positive result?

No don’t know the index on the positive. I got it at CityMD When I thought I was having my first outbreak.I just went back for a 3rd IGG test all 3 are negative after 6 months.

I saw your follow up post. None of this really makes any sense to me. The white pus from a lesion on the penis really isn’t consistent with HSV but since your partner is HSV 2 positive, it is certainly possible. It’s all very confusing and if you were my patient, I would order the western blot for you for clarity. This just isn’t making a lot of sense unless there was a mix-up in the lab with your sample and someone else’s sample.

Does it matter that I used different labs?
CityMD lab for first test labcorp for last 3Really don’t see any symptoms for about 7 months now just the occasional ingrown hair that I’ve been getting since I can remember.
How do I get the western blot?

oh, so you did use two different labs. That could account for the different results, I suppose
You can work with your own provider to get the blot or you can work with me. if you work with me you would make an appointment at westoverheights.com, follow the link to “get a western blot”
