Hi, I would like to know what kind of chance there is for transmitting herpes before and during outbreak when using condoms on my case. If you can give any numbers that would be nice to know too.
I’m male, I’ve had hsv2 for 2 years and I take aciclovir only during outbreaks. I think I’ve had about 5 outbreaks during these 2 years.
I had sex with uninfected woman. On that day I didn’t see any signs of outbreak but the next day I saw sores below glans penis near frenulum. We used condom, and the part where the sore was located was covered with condom. Penetration lasted about three minutes. I didn’t have anywhere else any sores.
Can you transmit hsv if you masturbate yourself and after that your partner, before and during outbreak?
How effective is condom when you have sex before and during outbreak?
How big risk of transmission there is when having sex before and during outbreak with condom?
Condoms reduce transmission by 96^ from males to uninfected females. If the condom stayed intact, I do not see a risk here. Your outbreaks are infrequent for HSV 2. We say that masturbating is not a method of transmission but I don’t think it’s a terrific idea to do this while having an actual outbreak. I would say the risk is incredibly low but people vary in how much actual contact they might have during masturbation so I would just be cautious if doing this during an outbreak. I would not have worries at all about this when you don’t have an outbreak.
