      Hi Terri

I contracted HPV type 62 and HSV 2 from my cheating ex fiancĂ© , such a bad days I use to have such a std phobia , so basically my life has stopped for 3 years because of it every time I get a sore which is every month almost it puts me in a greater depression , i have tried valtrex 500 mg a day doesn’t do anything and recently started dating this new guy we go way back as friends and I wonder if I can start anything again and been on 1000 mg valtrex a day and so far 4 months and no sores which gives a little hope however I have a lot of pain in my pelvic area and legs and burning sensation in my vagina area and tingling so I wonder is this still herpes symptoms there is no sore does that mean Iam shedding the virus because it simply just doesn’t go away and I don’t know what to do anymore , I went to see my obgyn and she tested me for bacteria and yeast and all negative but did an examination and said Iam inflamed from inside hence why I have pelvic pain and pain in my legs and burning sensation , is she right ? As for me everything is cause of heroes now , but what about the tingling ?

Pls help me I really like this guy and wanna move forward but if this is herpes and its everyday I can’t ever have sex .

      Thanks a lot

This is so odd – I answered this question yesterday and it has disappeared into cyber space! Let’s try again.

1000 mg is the perfect dose for you – in fact, given the frequency of your recurrences, it is the recommended dose!
I’m wondering if your doctor told you that you had pelvic inflammatory disease? That is treated with antibiotics and is not due to herpes. When herpes does cause leg pain, it is usually down one leg, not both.

Does your new partner know that you have herpes? Has he himself been actually tested to know that he is not infected, or has this yet been discussed?

The pain switches from one leg to the other sometimes it’s in my thighs sometimes it’s tingling around my vaginal area , sometimes buttock, sometimes it shooting pain , so just so iam clear this pain is not cause of the herpes. ? As it’s almost everyday comes and goes sometimes not there for a week, so I am actually never symptom free and still contagious even with 1000 mg a day? Pls let me know it’s so important .

I just wanna make sure that the valtrex is helping and that these are not the symptoms? It’s the most important . Could the pain be be cause of valtrex?

She didn’t really say anything about deasease she just said your leg pain and the shooting pain you have is cause of the pelvic and perineal pain as she did observation inside the vaginal area.,and then she gave me a pill for it called Brufen 600 mg , 3 times a day , I don’t think it’s doing anything,.have a new appointment again . The thing is I have anything like that before herpes .

She tested me for hvs profile rapid+ culture, ultrasound, hpv , all negative except hpv
I didn’t tell my doctor about herpes she doesn’t know and neither does the guy , . She’s new and iam too embarrassed .

I cannot say if the leg pain is caused by herpes or not. Other things can cause leg pain and so can herpes. The pain is not due to the Valtrex, no. It is still possible to shed virus even on Valtrex, yes.

I am not familiar with the test that you describe – I’m guessing perhaps you are not in the US?
