When I got my first outbreak and went to the doctor to get my lesions swabbed for herpes the test came back negative. I still felt uncomfortable in the genital area so I when back to the doctors maybe 7 months later to see if I could get a blood test. At this point I hadn’t gotten another outbreak. I got my test results back and I tested positive for HSV 2, 6.43 igg results. My doctor told me I had herpes. I felt like I was still having constant prodrome symptoms even though I was taking valtrex at this diagnosis and the symptom never stopped of burning or tingling but still no outbreaks. I went back to the doctor and realized I had an infection and they treated me for that. That medicine had relieved me from the burning and tingling but while I was at my doctor appointment I was talking to a different doctor and she said that I didn’t have herpes I was only exposed and had the antibodies. They would have to swab an outbreak to confirm of I have herpes. So now I’m super confused. I recently had a second outbreak but I didn’t get a chance to get tested. Now I don’t know what to think. Do you think I have herpes and would it be possible for me to take the western blot test?

I think with your index value of 6.43 and a second outbreak, there is little doubt that you have HSV 2. But you can certainly take a western blot, of course. The doctor you told you that the presence of antibody means you were just exposed could not be more incorrect. If your IgG is accurately positive, you both infected and potentially infectious to others. If you want to do the blot to be certain reach out to me on this website, I can help you.

Does herpes with no outbreak make your genital feel constantly dry or kinda rough? I’m just confused if this is some type of never ending prodrome symptom?
I’m also always feeling prodrome symptoms (little tenderness on my genitals) but I don’t get no outbreaks. I feel these prodrome symptoms off and on all day everyday. I normally feel them in the spot where I got my outbreak. Is that normal?
Is weird, my genitals always feels like I’m experiencing some type of prodrome syndrome. My genitals never feel normal.

No, herpes would not normally make the genital area feel dry or rough.
The only way to know if your abnormal genital feelings are related to HSV activity is to have a swab test done to see if the virus is active or not. If you have repeatedly negative swabs, then I would say it is likely NOT related to HSVTerri
