I have been getting coldsores since early childhood. I have auto-inoculation concerns even though this should not be a concern. I have never had these concerns before but my OCD is a little amped up. I am hoping getting these answers from you will help curb the concerns.

I am having recurring mouth sores that appear as a small chunk of cheek tissue sloughing off and there is little to no pain or discomfort. As i am not sure i have ever had a cold sore inside my mouth, what is the defining characteristic? i know they start as a blister, but what if i missed this phase? are they always painful? Should i be able to dismiss them if the only knowledge of them being there is me finding them with my tongue?

I also understand mouthsores are practically non existent outside of an initial outbreak?

If kids touch something that has my saliva on it when i have an outbreak, is that a concern? what about if i touched my sores accidentally and touched a shared intermediary object like a game controller. What if they directly touched my hand that touched the sore or saliva?

Do i need to worry about if i get saliva on my hands and then touching something in the freezer and then someone or myself touching that same item?

What about if i have lotion on my hands and touch the sore or get saliva mixed in. As lotion or oils dont dry as easily (or oils at all), would the virus then be preserved and then could be transmitted?

Do i need to be concerned about touching my phone or computer that i may have “contaminated” and then masturbating?

Also, do coldsore present with tenderness under the skin like a pimple would? i have been getting some pimples in my nose and want to rule them out as coldsores.

Thank you for creating this avenue of support and all you do. i know i asked a lot of questions in this post so let me know if i need to purchase more and will happily do so.

This does not sound like herpes to me – and they are probably not cold sores

While herpes can be shed from inside the mouth with viral shedding, sores inside the mouth are far less common than those outside the mouth.

If kids touch something that has my saliva on it when i have an outbreak, is that a concern? what about if i touched my sores accidentally and touched a shared intermediary object like a game controller. What if they directly touched my hand that touched the sore or saliva?
None of this presents a risk

      NO

      Not a worry
Do i need to be concerned about touching my phone or computer that i may have “contaminated” and then masturbating?
      No

Now that could be a cold sore in your nose. You should have the area swab tested aggressively when you have one.

You don’t need to purchase more.
