Hi Terri,
I have written here before relating ti a handjob. I did an igg test and my results were as below.
Hsv1 0.118
Hsv2 <0.500.
So results were negative but my question is how accurate are these tests? Its been about 6 months since potential exposure so i think i left enough time.
I have a spot in my pubic region which just came up today so Im still worried. Do i need to get a scrape test done on this. Or can i be sure now i do not have it based on those results
You should have a swab test done on any concerning skin change.
at 6 months out, the HSV 1 IgG test picks up 70% of infections, compared to the western blot and 92% of HSV 2 infections.
Terri
Sorry if i have mis understood something here. At 6 months since potential exposure are you saying the igg test would only pick up 20% of hsv2 infevtions?
Why is that? I thought after infection antibodies stay in the system for life?
Sorry that was a typo. 92%
Terri
Thanks Terri so the igg are the most accurate thing i can get in the uk then i guess
Is it possible for me to do a western blot in the uk?
Or is a swab test also accurate?
Hi Terri unfortunately today in breaking out with multiple bumps on my pubic region again Im absolutely distraught right now. Whats the best thing to do?
Get them swab tested!
Terri
Ok thanks. I think they are herpes. Which will mean i got it from the handjob I have discussed previously
No, that is not correct. You don’t get herpes from a handjob. Be sure to have the bumps swab tested.
