Hi Terri, thank you for your time.
I am hoping for some advice please as this situation has affected my mental health and dating for the past 2 years.
Roughly 2 years ago when I was on on my period I experience some soreness which I initially thought was from Sanitary pads as I sometimes experience this. However this time it got significantly worse even a few days after stopping wearing the pads so at this point I decided to examine myself and I saw, redness, some dry patches of skin as well as almost small indents along on the outside of my labia and some sort of dry skin circles. I tried Sudacrem which seemed to make it worse and it was also quite tingly. For context this was roughly 9 months into an exclusive relationship.
I went to the GP who said it could be herpes but not 100% typical and couldn’t say without a test and I have to go to sexual health clinic for that. By The time I was able to get a swab the symptoms had cleared up completely so I was never able to test. Two years later the symptoms have never returned and I have paid for two IgG tests which were both negative 6 months apart and over 12 weeks from initial symptoms.
HSV1: 0.145
HSV2: <0.500HSV1: 0.078
HSV2: <0.500My question is, if given the chance of a false negative can I be confident in his test results? I am in the UK so western blot is not possible.
I only question the results since a recent partner has described Herpes like symptoms on himself however refused to get tested as was adamant it wasn’t herpes.
I am really struggling to move on with my life. Would you be confident in my blood test results?
Thank you for your time.

I think you should be quite confident in your results. The symptoms that you describe in yourself don’t sound like herpes to me. This is the best testing that you can do in the UK and I think you should believe these results and move on.

Thank you very much for your response!
2. Would you see any benefit in my trying to do the western blot? I now see from other posts it might be possible from the UK. I am at the point where the possible piece of mind would be worth the money.
3. Would the fact that the symptoms only came once and never came back suggest it wasn’t HSV2 if it was herpes?
Thank you very much again really appreciate the service as it’s impossible to get proper advice on this in the UK.

Yes, it is possible. We would need to have a video conference before doing this.3. Would the fact that the symptoms only came once and never came back suggest it wasn’t HSV2 if it was herpes?
Yes.Terri
