Hello Terri,
Some background. I was diagnosed HSV2 positive last year by blood test. No symptoms ever to my knowledge, Some irritation here and there. My Gyno thinks I have Vulvogynia and use eumaid ointment which does help. My spouse has HSV1 not 2. I have been taking generic valtrex for 9 months for suppressive therapy. We have a normal sex life w/0 condoms and we are aware of the risks. So fast forward, I was under a lot of stress last month and noticed tingling feelings all over my body. We went for a sunny vacation for a few days, didn’t lay out just stayed under umbrella. Noticed sensations going down the backs of my legs a couple of times. One morning I woke up and there was a raised itchy bump that looked like a bug bite. I put alcohol on it and by midday it was gone. Afterwards things seemed to calm down. My spouse and I were together with oral, 6 days ago and was a little irritated the next day. 4 days ago I noticed a small bump on the inside of my labia but it was not painful, just a little sore. So today, I checked it with a qtip and some wht pus and a little blood came out. So I made an appt with my doctor this afternoon. I don’t have a fever, no swollen nodes, and I feel fine.
Do you think this is an ob, or could it be something else?

That does not sound like an outbreak, no. Herpes lesions don’t normally have pus in them, sounds more like a little pimple to me but so glad you were seeing your doctor for an evaluation in person. But you do know that you can shed virus from you body with no symptoms at all, right? May I ask – what was the index value of your antibody test? Usually there is a number associated with the positive value. Since you have no symptoms, I wanted to be sure that your test did not require confirmation for greater accuracy. Why were you tested for herpes anyway?

Thank you for your response. I was tested 4 days after a NE and the igg was 21.9 no symptoms just wanted to check and I was floored. Never had any symptoms of any kind. Started worrying and I guess anxiety set in and started feeling tingling sensations all over the body, and about twenty days after NE started noticing burning after urination for about 4 months. So I started taking the generic valtrex once a day b/c I don’t want to sit around and wait for a ob. Plus, I wanted to lower the chance of passing it to spouse due to viral shedding. My PCP looked at my labia and stated it was a sebaceous bump, not an ob, and take sitz baths and if it didn’t dry up in 2 days, take the antibiotic. Later that evening before my sitz bath, I pressed it with a qtip and more pus was expelled, none today. This HSV2 thing is just nerve racking, I feel prickly feelings everywhere at times and my labia seems to stay sensitive and sometimes burn after touch or unrination. Doctors say everything is fine, no infections, UTIs .But I don’t feel fine. I just want to feel normal again!

I know you want to feel normal again, that is completely understandable. But at some point, you are going to move from the reality of being a person without herpes to the new reality of being a person with herpes. If your spouse is not worried very much about this, that’s a good thing. Also, it is easy to imagine all sorts of sensations in our body once we have a new diagnosis, but it is important to remember that this is not new for you, it is just newly recognized. There is no reason for your body now to have different sensations due to herpes!
What is a NE?
