is my herpes test conclusive ?

Hi Terri,

I had unprotected vaginal sex on 11 March 2023 after 3-4 days later i was having burning urination and my forekin was little red from inside(no other symtoms like swolen lymp node , headach ,fever). I thought it may be issue of kidney stone because i had it in past so ignored it for 7 weeks then after not getting resolved for 7 weeks then I decided to went to urologist and get myself diagnosed on 8th weeks I got tested for all the STI and they came back negative( hsv 2 igg ELISA was 0.5 < 0.9). after that doctor gave me Acivir 400 DT Tablet for 25 days( two tablet a day) with histocut and some other vitamines tablet and told me to retest after a month then on 13th week i retested and again came back negative with same 0.5.

Base on my above story Could you please answer following questions.

1. Do you think I have HSV 2 and what are the chances.

2. Do you think 25 day of acyclovir 400mg 2 times a day is enough to impact hsv igg test ?

Do you know any one from india which can help me with western blot ? I know the western blot have around 99% accuracy or it is possible that i can fly to US and get western blot done there.

I don’t understand why your doctor treated you with acyclovir? Your IgG test was negative. A negative IgG at 8 weeks out from a concerning encounter is likely to stay that way. I’m confused.

We could work together to get a blot sent from India but I’m not sure why you want to do that?

I do not think the dose of acyclovir that you took would affect your test. We know that with IgG testing, the test misses 30% of HSV one and 8% of HSV 2. Your symptoms do not sound herpetic to me.
