Around a month ago, I had vagina sex (in which condom broke) and unprotected anal sex. A week later I experienced bleeding between periods, pressure in my abdominal area and lots of pain in my vagina that started with a dull ache. A week later it was vaginal shooting pain and a couple weeks later- vaginal pins and needles (they are ongoing). Also for a month I have been experiencing flu-like symptoms like dull aches in my legs and chest. I also had a tingling feeling in my bum which prevented me from sleeping at times. I occasionally still have that feeling. I had a full STI screen which came back negative for HIV, Trich, MG, Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea
I have not tested for herpes as there are no lesions to swab and blood work can only be done after several weeks. I have taken some antibiotics recommended by a doctor as he thought it could be Pelvic inflammatory Disease, however, after taking the antibiotics I still have vaginal pain and anal discomfort. I read in women’s health magazine that tingling, dull aches in pelvis, flu like feelings and aching could be signs of herpes – but I haven’t had a visual outbreak of sores and its confusing for me
I know I have to wait the incubation period before I get blood work done and can know for certain – but thats several weeks away and my anxiety is through the roof – so much so that it’s effecting my sleep. I know from a hunch that whatever i have was directly brought about by the sexual encounter. I don’t know if after I took the antibiotics I simply caught a yeast infection as these can be brought on after their usage. But that doesn’t explain the pain I was feeling before I took them
Should I have had a visible outbreak after a long period of vaginal tingling and pain, flu-like aches and anal discomfort because it might not be possible to just have the prodrome and not the genital blisters/sores. And also the symptoms shouldn’t last more than a month? I have been checked by several doctors and have no visible sores

Dull ache in the pelvis and general aching and tingling with no sores are not symptoms of herpes. And herpes symptoms don’t normally last more than a few weeks. I think you could do a preliminary IgG test at 6 weeks out and see what you get.

Thank you so much Terri. From your educated guess, what would you believe the dull aches in my legs and breast/chest could potentially be? (i know they are flu like symptoms but I didn’t have any cough/sneezing headaches so i guess it could be stress/maybe another infection). Like you said herpes symptoms don’t last more than a few weeks and these have been constant for more than that period of time.
The anal sexual encounter was not consensual and I felt violated afterwards. For days after (even until now) I feel a lot of stress and extreme anxiety; so could stress and anxiety cause my body pains for so long.
Also, maybe could the rough non-consensual experience cause vaginitis/anusitis. As well as doing a preliminary IgG test at 6 weeks, is there anyway to find out/treat possible causes of my continued vaginal pain/tingling and discomfort in my bottom.

I have no idea why you might be having these symptoms, no.
I’m so sorry this happened to you and I wonder how much of your symptoms are related to anxiety – our bodies can react in so many ways to a stressful event. I remember when my mother died, my chest hurt so badly for weeks I was sure I was having some major heart event. But it was just grief and anxiety and stress and eventually, with the passage of time, it went away. I hope your symptoms will as well.Terri
