My husband gets herpes in his nose, I have the biggest fear of laying on his chest because when he laughs it’s by blowing air through his nose, and like a big blow too, I can feel air on my arm when he laughs like that. I’m sooo afraid of him laughing and then him blowing and catching herpes in my eye or if he is holding a baby and laughs and the nose blows the virus on to the baby, is this something that’s possible?

No, I think the odds of that are 1 in a million of acquiring herpes in that way. I assume that you have tested negative for HSV 1 yourself?

So is there a chance though if he blew air in my eye through his nose by laughing I could get the virus in my eye? (If he had an outbreak inside the nose, which he does get)

You say one in a million does that mean it’s a possibility? He laughs blowing air through his nose a lot, and I have felt it on my eye before because he was looking straight at me

That was kind of an exaggeration. The odds are probably way lower than one in a million. I think this is something you really should take off your worry list. And you didn’t tell me if you’ve been tested for HSV 1 or not?

I have and I was not positive 🙂 (it has been a a year since I tested though)
Does that mean it’s something that can happen? Getting herpes of my eye when I feel his nose puff air in my eye when I’m close to his face during an outbreak in his nose?- This reply was modified 1 year ago by Mermaidocto.

No, I don’t believe that is something that can happen. You know that HSV 1 can be spread from oral contact with him even when he has no symptoms and that the igG test misses 30% of HSV 1 infections.

Yes I know that, I am less afraid of oral herpes :), the fear of getting herpes in my eye from his nose blowing air in my eye was my biggest fear

That is not a rationale fear, mermaidocto

So I don’t need to worry about when he has an active outbreak in his nose when I feel air blow from his nose in my eye? Even when I’m up close kissing

I would say that if you have this concern and he has an outbreak in his nose, just don’t get that close to his nose.

That makes it sound like it is possible, I guess all I’m trying to ask is
1. Can I get herpes of the eye if air blows from his nose into my eye when we are kissing or cuddling? Like is that a possibility? It is very hard to avoid when he has an outbreak because I’ve noticed his nose when he laughs blows in my eye very often while we are cuddling or hugging or kissing, it happens every day. So I need to know how much of a risk it is to get herpes of the eye by feeling his nose blowing in my eye during an outbreak? There is a chance? Or there is no chance?- This reply was modified 1 year ago by Mermaidocto.

I guess I just see sometimes you tell people there is 0 risk of transmission when they ask transmission questions so when you don’t say that about mine I start to worry there’s a slight chance lol 🙂

There are some experiences that I know can present zero risk because there is absolutely no contact between part of bodies that could infect each other. In your case, I am not going to say zero risk because I don’t know every movement that you and your partner have. No matter how many times you ask me, my answer remains the same.

I’m sorry if I’ve annoyed you, I just have been afraid of my husband for weeks now because of this because whenever I look up at him (he’s tall) I can feel his nose blow in my eye when he laughs and I’ve been so afraid we haven’t been able to get close in a long time because of this fear of the chance since it’s not zero risk, I’m near depression, I just needed help, I’m sorry :’(

You don’t need to apologize, I just feel badly that I can’t help you more.
I can say that if I were in your situation, I wouldn’t give this one more thought or worryTerri
