I was just making sure that you are still able to help me with some clarification on my results. I read that you will still facilitate with helping people get the WB test done by signing off on it as the physician. But then I also see that the clinic is closed. So just making sure that you are still able to help me? If so I am interested in the WB test. I will go ahead and purchase the kit if possible still to speed the process up before we video chat like stated in your post.

Now that I have a profile I am able to see the forums and see that people are asking you questions and you are responding.
Here is my story
I have had a boyfriend of 6 and a half years
6 months ago we broke up
I know he had sex with at least one girl after
And I had sex with 1 guy (unprotected)
After having sex with the 2nd guy 2 days later I had the urge to urinate more often than I should. I did not urinate after sex and in the past when I have not done that I get a UTI so I just figured it was a UTI
Went to urgent care they gave me medicine symptoms got better
To be safe I went to gynecologist and got culture tests done for chlamydia trichmosis and gonnerea
Chlamydia came back positive
I was devastated. Then after some research realized it’s not a big deal. Took my medicine. 10 days after medicine I didn’t want to wait the 3 weeks to get a confirmation test at my gyno so I went to a STD lab and just got everything done to be safe.
Everything came back neg expect for hsv 1 and 2
I know 1 is usually cold sores so I didn’t freak about that but my heart sank when I saw hsv 2
I have never had any symptoms. Also I have never had symptoms of cold sores.
I cannot remember the exact number but hsv 1 was around 1.5-1.8 and hsv 2 was 2.4-2.8
Definitely not higher than 3 for hsv 2
As of recent my ex and I want to get back together
But now I am freaking out because of my recent test results of hsv 2
I am seeing a lot about false positives
I definitely want to do the WB test for confirmation.
I will ask him to get an std done once I know my results. I know I could have potentially had hsv 2 before my ex and I could have given it to him or he could have even given it to me and we are both asymptomatic but before we have sex I would like to get clarification.
Had sex with guy a few times. But the last time was dec 27. Got all STD testing done Jan 16. So 3 weeks from last known possible exposure was when I got tested.
Looking forward to hearing back from you!

And you need confirmation for sure. But you should wait 12 weeks from the time of your encounter with the 2nd person for the most accurate test. You could definitely have had this before this 2nd partner, yes.

I have an update on my igg test results
4 weeks post possible exposure
I have the western blot kit but waiting for 16 weeks to get a true conclusive result. I am very nervous about it. Do you think this is likely a false positive since the supplemental has remained negative all this time and I remain the in the low positive range? I know you’ve said that the labCorp supplemental a lot of times are supported by the western blot. Just wanting a little bit of reassurance here. Thank you Terri!

I do think that these results are false positives. Not only do you have low positives consistently but also the confirmatory test is negative as well, which, while not definitive, is very good news. Mostly we have trouble with false-positive confirmatory tests, not false negatives.
You do not need to wait 16 weeks to do the test – UW says 12 weeks and it is their test – they should know.

I’m going crazy. At times I feel good about the supplemental staying negative and then at times I don’t feel comforted by it all. I plan on getting WB done April 13, which is a Monday. I will be filled with anxiety while waiting. I know you can’t say 100% that I will be negative because I am positive on the igg, but you say mostly the trouble with confirmatory tests are false positives, not the false negatives.
I just want an idea on what my results could realistically be.
How often do you see a negative supplemental 12 weeks out followed by a positive WB.
Or if this question is easier to answer, what are my chances of getting a negative WB with my 3 test results.
*** also some people’s confirmatory test results read as: positive/abnormal reference: negative
Mine have always just been negative/negative
Never positive abnormal

I would say based on our blot data alone, the odds are about 50-50 that this is a false positive. But add in the negative supplemental test and I would say the odds are better than that that this is a false positive. Do we have a visit set up or have we already had it?
