Partner stated they were tested, never had symptoms, and that they also used protection with a partner prior to our encounter. No updates on current testing.
No symptoms as of yet.
Is a confirmation test via Labcorp or Western blot warranted and if so when?
Male, 39 years old, 3 partners in the last 12 months, protection used except for the last encounter.
You had a confirmation test done at LabCorp – the supplemental. There is good agreement between a negative supplemental and a negative western blot. The issue with the supplemental is false positives. I now have 78 patients with positive supplemental tests from LabCorp and negative western blots.
If you do want the western blot, you should wait 12 weeks from any concerning sexual encounter.

Thank you, I’m confused about how to perceive the results still. To clarify for me, based on the tests do I have Hsv2 or not since they’re conflicting results? If it’s a strong possibility I will get the WB test done, I’m just making sure for other people I may be with in the future.
If you have a negative supplemental test at LabCorp, then HSV 2 infection is really unlikely.
