how long does viral shedding lasts (typically how many days from onset of pain) if outbreak symptom is only herpetic neuralgia? If you could at least provide an estimate that would be greatly appreciated. That pain can last for over a week and up to 2 weeks. Are you shedding that whole time there is nerve pain present? How long does viral shedding last if there is a lesion?
Viral shedding episodes can be hours long or days long. It varies greatly. About half of the episodes last less than 6 hours. Where is the herpes neuralgia pain?

The pain starts in buttock area and goes down my back leg to my foot.
I am trying to understand more about viral shedding. If you have a lesion, is there constant shedding from that lesion until it’s healed?
If there is a lesion, you should ASSUME it is shedding, though with medicine on board, it may have stopped shedding, but there is no immediate way for you to know.
