Hello Terri, I had received oral sex from a woman 17 weeks ago, a few days after the encounter I had flu like symptoms. A couple days after that I began to have a frequent urge to urinate. The urge would be immediate, even after emptying my bladder. A few weeks after that , I started to have back pain, pain behind the testicles and pain in my lower stomach/pelvis. The pain in my groin felt worse when sitting as if the compression of sitting was putting pressure against my lymph nodes. Burning only after urinating started around this time as well. (1 month) during this time I would have joint pain, and overall feeling run down and exhausted. I tested negative for the standard STDs, and have tested negative for IgG HSV 2 at 5, 12 and 17 weeks. I have had HSV1 since I was a young boy so those came back positive. Although I do not have a distinguishing sore, my penis is constantly burning and the skin seems wet even after bathing and drying.
Could this be HSV2 and my HSV1 antibodies are keeping my outbreak in check?
Could I have been infected with HSV1 on my genitals? Even after already having it orally? My IgG hsv1 numbers have double since this incident. (50+)
Is frequent urination and testicle pain a symptom of genital herpes?
Is a negative IgG HSV 2 result at 17 weeks conclusive enough?
Does herpes cause the skin on the one is to be constantly wet/sticky?
Any help would be appreciated.

You don’t get HSV 2 from receiving oral sexCould I have been infected with HSV1 on my genitals? Even after already having it orally? My IgG hsv1 numbers have double since this incident. (50+)
That would be extremely unlikelyIs frequent urination and testicle pain a symptom of genital herpes?
noIs a negative IgG HSV 2 result at 17 weeks conclusive enough?
Yes, given your sexual encounter typeDoes herpes cause the skin on the one is to be constantly wet/sticky?

Thank you for the quick reply.
There is a lot of misinformation out there, oral HSV2 cannot be transferred to the genitals of a partner or is there no data of this? Even in a high risk setting?
Would a Western Blot test be a waste of time considering my exposure was only oral sex?
I just want to eliminate the list of diseases this can be so I can receive a quicker diagnosis from my urologist.
Thanks again.

While biologically possible, oral HSV-2 itself is rare and when it is present orally, it is rarely shed from the mouth. I’m not sure what you mean by high-risk setting but the facts about oral HSV to remain. If it would reassure you more to have a western blot done, you can certainly do that. Sometimes it isn’t the medical possibility of an infection that guides a decision to do a better test but rather the need for peace of mind. That’s your call.
