Hello, thanks in advance for the advice/help. To preface I almost always use protection during sex. However at the beginning of this month i had unprotected sex for the first time in years. So 3 weeks ago was the last time i had intercourse. This is the first time i tested out of curiosity. The results came back as HSV-1 negative/non reactive. However, HsV 2 igG came back low positive with a result of 1.11. Additionally, they performed a supplemental HSV-2 igG test that came back negative. I have never had any symptoms of HSV2 although since i work in health care i know it can present asymptotically.
So my question is should i be concerned, was this a false positive? And what does the supplemental test mean in relation to the initial reflex test? Thanks agian for your input/help!
Your test was done too soon after the unprotected encounter to be reliable. Would it be possible to get your partner to test? If your partner is negative, your result is likely a false positive. But honestly, it is just too early to be able to rely upon this test, either in the direction of you being infected or not infected.
Terri
