Hi Terri
I recently have had piv sex with 2 straight women. First encounter was in early December and second woman was 3 weeks ago. First woman had been tested in March and was negative. She then did not have many partners. We had unprotected sex 3 times over the course of December-early January. Second woman I had sex with early January. 2 days later I developed what I thought was an ingrown hair. 2 bumps specifically. But never burst nor opened nor had any liquid inside, but finally healed after 2 weeks. A week after sex with the second woman, I got a full panel including HSV 1 Glycoprotein G Ab, IgG. And HSV 2 Glycoprot IgG Ab by Elisa. The tests came back as
HSV 1: 1.55
HSV 2: 1.29
First partner will be getting tested and will have results back Friday. Second hasn’t yet and will pending my discussion here and my discussion with my PCP.
Do you think these may be false positives? If so, how do I get a Western Blot? My PCP is not very open to that idea so far.
Ok so update now. Another test result came in that I am guessing is the supplemental, which is weird my doctor didn’t mention it was being done at all.
I know igm tests are not accurate, but want to post results as well just so you have a full understanding.
HSV Ab IgG/IgM reflex type 1/2
HSV 1/2 IgG Reflex Value : 1.2 [R1]
HSV 1/2 IgM Reflex Value : 0.5 [R2]
Seems conflicting from what I’ve heard, also what does R1 and R2 mean?
both of your first tests are low positives and could be false positives – very difficult to know. The second tests are combined HSV 1 and 2 tests and are not at all useful. Are you in the US?
I would be happy to help you with the western blot – you can sign up for an evisit at westoverheights.com
