Hello, I recently received an IGG test result for HSV 2 with a low positive index (1.87). I’ve had no symptoms whatsoever and never had an outbreak.
The same test indicated a relatively high index (24.2) for HSV 1. All of my previous tests for HSV 1 have been positive, and I contracted HSV 1 as a child, although my cold sores on my mouth are very infrequent. I might get one cold sore every 2 or 3 years.
I’ve also recently been exposed to Covid and have read it can impact HSV antibody levels.
Should I get a confirmatory test for HSV 2? Would the assay test make sense?
Most definitely! I highly recommend the western blot as the confirmatory test. You can work with your own provider or with me, either is fine. You can order the kit at 206-685-6066 and they will send it to you so you are ready to work with whomever you decided to work with.
Terri
