I had protected sex at the end of February. No symptoms . I had unprotected sex on Father’s Day of this year and I am dating someone new so I went to get tested July 21. I got results July 22 for hsv 2 igg results being 1.09 with quest. I got my blood drawer for confirmatory test and they did another igg hsv and it is now 1.20 in freaking out . I have to wait another week for the confirmation test I can’t take it . What are my chances of this being negative ? Why did my number jump ? Only thing I ever had was some tingling earlier this year but I never tested positive before .
Well, Father’s Day and the test you had done were only about a month apart so I can’t actually speak to how likely it is that you have HSV 2. And the confirmatory test is also going to be suspect, I’m afraid. Is it possible to get the new partner tested for HSV 2?

I asked and he said he he tested negative , also came out he has someone pregnant and you know they do the testing during pregnancy per him she had tested negative .
Certainly not all OB providers do herpes testing on pregnant women – it is not officially recommended.
So he said he had a herpes antibody test for HSV 2 and it was negative? If that is true, then it is unlikely that you are infected. You may wish to redo the IgG at 6 weeks out.

Should I not worry about the protected sex I had in February?
Also how do I go about getting the boot test
Condoms reduce transmission from women to men by 65% so they aren’t perfect.
You can work with your own provider and the UW to get the blot test – you need a kit which you can get by calling 206-685-6066 or you can work with me. I think you mean the blot tests, correct?
Terri
Do you think by now from the February my levels would be much higher .
If you were infected in February, yes, I think your numbers would likely be higher by now.
