My significant other and I broke up early last year probably early January. We have been back exclusive since at least September/October. She gave me oral this year in February, after that I got some itchiness and 1-2 pimple like things with a rash spread out. They did not hurt, weep, or ulcer. Maybe you could feel it if you pressed on it besides the itchiness. My skin was read in a decent size area. Upon healing more the red part of my skin was flaky more than anything. I took 2 igg test. 1st once after a week of symptoms 1.6 hsv1 and negative hsv2. 5 weeks later 1.4 hsv1 and negative hsv2. Doctor said looks fungal. Second I’m on plaquinil and started immuran for lupus. Will plaquinel effect a blood test for hsv? Every 4 weeks this issue arises again same spot and is fully healed in a week. Never any fluid filled blisters. If I had another igg test it would be 15 weeks since 1st symptom. If it comes negative again am I good? The rash and maybe 2 bumps appear on pubic area maybe a half inch or inch above my penis not on my penis. I also seemed to come down with genital warts. One of us caught that during our separation possibly. I don’t think that would give me a rash. But the warts do appear in same area. Thanks so much.

Warts do cause a rash,you are correct. It’s so hard to know what’s going on when someone says “rash”. Generally speaking, herpes cause discreet sores not a generalized rash. We know that you probably have HSV 1 by your antibody test and that could be either oral or genital. Have you ever had a cold sore on your lip or in your nose?

Plaquinel is not an antiviral. And it would not skew the testing. I would say you are very likely free of HSV 2.
