Hi and thank you for this service!
I entered a relationship June last year with my partner disclosing he has HSV2.
January 2023 I got what I thought was thrush and then went to the dr. He noticed a paper cut between my vagina and anus and did a swab test. Positive for HSV2.
Outbreak affected my urination, general genital discomfort, felt burning hot down there but no lesions. I took the medication valclovir and I got better.
2nd outbreak (no lesions) in June this year and I took the medication again.
I was very stressed and sleeping badly. Roll on to the present – I am having symptoms again (for the last 4 days) – no lesions but am overseas in Europe. I am on the move a lot and it’s difficult for me to find a doctor. In less than 2 weeks I will be in the UK and will find a doctor then.
Is it ok to try and get through an outbreak without meds? Should I be on suppressive meds?
I am trying my best to manage my stress levels and sleep issues.
Anything to suggest?
I will also try and find a clinic who specialises in this area when I’m back in Sydney Australia.
I’m confused about your second outbreak but no lesions? What does that mean?
It is totally OK to have an outbreak with no meds – it’s not like a bacterial infection where you need antibiotics always. The meds simply shorten the outbreak.
You could certainly be on suppression and probably should be,I mean why not? You would be far more comfortable.
Terri
