My igG for hsv2 is 505.00

I have never had any out break of any sort. The test was part of a panel package at lab. I’m currently using immoquimod for an hpv infection. It is almost completely cleared. With in the 3 months prior to the positive hsv2 test I have had vaccinations for monkey pox, a Covid booster, a flu shot, and the last of the guardasil9 injections. Could any of these have caused a false positive for hsv2? Why is it soo high?

There’s something not quite right here with your lab result. Are you in the United States? I have never seen a result like that. Either this is a typo or you are in a place with an entirely different sort of IgG test.

Yes I am in the United States, I mentioned this to the nurse practitioner at the lab and she said it was high a high positive and she was sure I had hsv2. I asked to go on suppressive therapy to protect my partner and she said I didn’t need it. Her advice was just not to have sex during a break out and to the 10 day prescription of valcyclovir. Afterwards I went to see my primary care provider and he ordered PCR blood test which of course both came back negative. He said I was fine and to come back if anything popped up. He also wrote me a prescription for acyclovir just in case. Should i get another igg or just go for a western blot? Help please.

I have to say this is a real mess. The 505 is somewhere along the line a mistake. The nurse practitioner was wrong. Most transmissions of HSV two happen when the person that’s infected has no symptoms. It’s called asymptomatic viral shedding. Your physician should never have done a PCR blood test which I think you already know. I would like to see the actual test result somehow. What laboratory did the testing?

Usually, any Lab test now will send out those tests but maybe they did it themselves. You could find that in the small print. You can certainly schedule a consult with me. I think I have openings as early as tomorrow and I would appreciate it if you do schedule an appointment with me if you attach the copies to the visit. You can schedule that visit like going to the link on this website that says get a western blot.
