Neg swab (late) but symptoms are herpes scared for family

I am not sure exactly when symptoms began around early March but I didn’t get to dr until a week after as I thought yeast infection and hemmroids tried 3 day canesten didn’t work. Had soreness burning painful bowel movements and a “rash” between my bum cheeks toward my anus and a sore perineum and a sore around vaginal opening and watery discharge. Dr looked said “looks like herpes” swabbed “lesions” by anus and in bum crack area and perineum what she saw looked like small cuts. She started me on antiviral medication 1 pill 2x a day for 10 days. My symptoms got even worse a few days after starting and my vulva and labia began feeling like being stuck with tiny cactus quills when touching anything I woke up in middle of night from discomfort and wetness and walked with a limp constantly pulling at my crotch to adjust and Backache. I finally went back to a walk in clinic (dr was away) day after antivirals finished because I was in intense discomfort from extreme itchiness redness and swelling around my labia now I almost went to hospital night before due to discomfort-ended up driving to drugstore and using vagisil cortisone and sleeping pills so I could sleep. At walk in dr said it looked like fungal infection I explained my dr thought herpes and that the rash in my bum looked different when my dr saw it.now it looked just a flat red area not rash “lesions” and I now had very sore going lymph on one side. She gave me some mupirocin ungiclotrim cream for 2 weeks and 3 days antivirals. Back to my dr for results and she said swab returned negative no presence of hsv1 or 2 detected i wanted to be relieved but she said can be false due to length of time.Ive been in a relationship with husband for 20 years cheated on him about 9 years ago with a woman. he never cheated. We have kids I fear I gave to kids somehow before diagnosis One kid has some redness in his groin area for 2 days. Im scared depressed crying.i still have swollen lymph anal fissures painful BMs.help!

Hmmmm. Well, first, stop worrying about somehow infecting your kids with herpes – that didn’t happen – even if you do have herpes. It’s promising that the swab test was negative. And you are quite sure that your husband has not had any other partners? Your other partner was so long ago they don’t figure into this equation at all. Have you had other sex partners besides these two in your lifetime?
I wonder if you have either a bad yeast infection or a bacterial infection of some kind. Is the antifungal medicine helping? I think popping up with a new herpes infection after all these years of marriage sounds really unlikely!

Thanks for your reply. I am having a hard time shaking the possibility of infecting my kids especially when I may have been shedding and more careless with hygeine as I didn’t know. Since diagnosis I have been obsessive handwashing to the point of having sore cracked hands and bleaching the bathtub and toilet seat after I use them. I’m scared they may have used a towel I used or we may have bathed together. My discharge was so heavy. How long after lesions show are swabs reliable? My dr said the results are not 100 percent accurate. I was on azithromycin for pnemonia about 1 month or so prior to my symptoms of “herpes”. My husband hasn’t cheated he’s had probably 5 partners before me (not sure condoms),I had 3 partners before him and the woman 9 years ago. I honestly am so distraught about this as we have been together 20 years and this came out of nowhere and has been the most discomfort and anguish I have ever experienced physical and emotional. Can herpes be dormant for 9 years? 20 years ? Also my mom in law gets cold sores and was over a week before symptoms could I have somehow touched something she touched and when using a tampon infected myself? I exercise 2-3 times a week and wear a thong could the friction have prompted this? My husband and I had anal sex few weeks before symptoms could that have caused this? I fear il never have sex life again for fear of this happening again, not wanting him to experience this. The antifungal has reduced the redness between my bum (which was the site of the “lesions”) but it is still discoloured and I still have occasional tingle in my anus (one of first symptoms was that and I thought pinworms it felt like something crawling there). The intense itching gone but still don’t feel right. Can you get a fungal or yeast infection, hemmroids, fissures as a result of herpes? Do my symptoms sound fungal? My dr gave me 1 day pill for yeast a week ago, no trich through microscope. Is swollen lymph in groin normal for this long?

Hi again. I am continuing my questions from my previous reply to your reply (please read above for more background…sorry to jump the gun before you had a chance to read and reply to my last reply but I’m super scared). I’m still have painful bowel movements. My stools seem to come out hard at first but not the whole way. Blood on tissue. Also some tingling in anus. Now today new symptoms since first “outbreak” (if it was herpes). Today I noticed brown tinge in my vaginal discharge like when period first comes but I’m not due for 2 weeks … I also have lower back ache and feel just not well. I though maybe ovulation pain but I never spot in between periods and I usually feel pain in lower womb and bloating. My anus hurts when I tighten it. I’m fearing that it is herpes and I’m having another outbreak.or else what could it be. I am also worried because one of my kids found an ice pack I used against my vaginal area a few weeks ago when I was having severe itching and discomfort and my kid picked it up and held it to his face to see if it was cold. Could the virus be on the ice pack still? Also I’m in Canada I’m not sure what further tests I could do and when I should do them. I don’t know if we have western blot how much does it cost and could I get it? Also should my husband get tested? Would it make a difference …like if he is positive too can we spread it back and forth or outbreaks arise individually? He’s never had genital symptoms and thinks he might have had a cold sore once as a kid but isn’t sure. I never had a cold sore and previous posting explains my genital/anal symptoms to date. I’m so scared and confused about this and worried for my health and my family. The negative swab is confusing me too given my symptoms is it common to have false negatives is it true they have e to swab within 48+72 hrs of sores showing to make results accurate? Then why would my dr have bothered? What else could this be and when will it end …

You are your husband need to have IgG antibody test done. This may be more difficult than Canada but it can be done because I have seen many people get it done who live in Canada. I would not be at all concerned about your child getting herpes from the ice pack. I’m glad that the antifungal medicine is helping. Most times, the prescription for antifungal medicine is for application twice per day, lasting for about two weeks. Many times, clinicians also prescribe an oral antifungal agent to increase healing. You have jumped to the conclusion that this is herpes but I just don’t feel, from what you’ve told me, that this is a reasonable diagnosis. I think you are one really jumping the gun I’m panicking about this. You need more diagnostic testing to find out exactly what is going on here. I doubt that this is from wearing tight underwear or being in contact with your mother-in-law and she had a cold sore. Does your husband get cold sores? Is he the giver of oral sex to you? This could be genital herpes transferred from his mouth to your genitals if he is giving you oral sex.
