Hello, I had a non consensual possible exposure 11 weeks ago. The guy has never had symptoms but won’t test to see if he is positive. 5 weeks from exposure I had flu like symptoms and a low grade fever on and off for 4 days, with burning in back, buttocks. From there I had genital burning and burning in arms, legs, hands, back. Two weeks later there was a tiny cut looking spot on perineum but went away after a couple days and didn’t really hurt. One day I thought I had a spot but it went away in a day. I tested negative 5 weeks post exposure igg and igm. I tested negative for both strains 10 weeks post exposure with igg, but no index values. Is it likely is it truly negative at 10 weeks? I want to get a western blot but it doesn’t look like there are any availabilities on the evisit schedule.

I do have availability on the evisit schedule, but a negative IgG at 10 weeks ago provides with you with about 92% reassurance that you don’t have HSV 2 and if it was a single encounter, that’s a lower risk as well, if he was infected

Thank you. The site wasn’t working at the time, but I was able to get back on and schedule with you so I can order a western blot.
My follow up questions:
1. If it could have been from an oral hsv1 exposure, is it likely I’m infected orally and genitally? I’m very nervous I have it on my mouth as well. I haven’t had a sore or anything on my mouth, but a couple instances of burning around my lips and on my face.
2. I am having some type of symptoms daily since the initial symptoms started 7 weeks ago. Is it likely I’m having back to back outbreaks? It’s mostly nerve pain and burning, which I’m not sure why it isn’t going away entirely . I have a video appointment with you tomorrow to get the western blot ordered. I appreciate your time. Thank you. -

If you are HSV one positive on the western blot, we will not be able to know if your infection is oral, genital, or both. The only way to know the location of an HSV one infection is to have a sore swab tested if it appears in either location.

It is very unlikely that any herpes infection would be presenting daily. I think we are meeting at 10 o’clock Pacific time today and we’ll talk more
