Good morning Terri,
I received your email last week that I tested negative for HSV 1 & 2 (YAY). I’ll be completely honest for 12 weeks I’ve lived my life as if I was for sure positive. When we had our consultation I mentioned that I had last a lot of weight from stress, anxiety and depression from this situation. I was positive all of my symptoms were coming from HSV. With all of this being said I know that the Western a lot is the gold standard for HSV testing. I’m so super paranoid that something is gonna pop up and I’ll end up with a positive diagnosis. Feel free to call me crazy. My question is can I relax now with negative results? Is there any need for me to re-test in 16 weeks? I haven’t taken any antivirals, however I was taking Lysine out of precaution but I read that wouldn’t interfere with Blot results. Please correct me if I’m wrong. You mentioned during our consult that stress can cause our bodies to do crazy things. I guess I’m finding this out the hard way because my body has been literally flipped upside down since all of this. I look forward to your response. Thank you so much for all you’ve done and I wish you and your family happy holidays if I don’t speak to you again.
There is no need to retest at 16 weeks, no. Lysine would not interfere with western blot results, no.
Once a person has been told they have herpes via a bad test, it can be tough to move back to a place of believing that you are not infected. Please believe the blot. You don’t have herpes. The test just totally sucks.
