About 2 years ago I had unprotected sex with a woman 7 or 8 times. Then she informed me she had herpes. Six weeks later I had a herpes select igg test Quest lab Fla. came back hsv1 .20,hsv2 .17 both negative. Between then and now 2 years on I have had 5 herpes tests. four from Quest and one 2 months ago from a lab in Hicksville,N.Y. using type specific glycoprotein Gi. hsv1 0.10 hsv2 0.10. all tests negative

But 2 months after exposure with this woman I developed a slightly red blister on the circumcision line of my penis. About a week later it was gone. Not too painful but it was there. And sometimes I have strange sensations in my private area-not totally sure. Just recently I went to Dermatologist he saw the test results and told me I didn’t have herpes. Even with the test results I have, I am just not totally sure I don’t have herpes. Moving forward what actions should I take if any? I gotta know for sure! Thanks.

I think the chances are really excellent that you are not infected. Did you use condoms? do you know if she was on antiviral therapy? The herpeselect ELISA picks up 97 out of 100 cases of HSV 2 infection, so very sensitive. The only test that is more sensitive is the western blot. If you decide to do that, our clinic can help you get that.

Also, herpes does not normally present as a red blister, it presents more like a water blister. The blister then breaks, forms an ulcer and then a scab.

Terri thanks for the info. There’s so much contradictory info on herpes out here. No I did not use a condom and I think the woman actually tried to infect me. So I’m still a little freaked. Are the series of negative hsv 1 I had conclusive. I do not know If it’s a mind thing but sometimes I have itching on the tip of my penis–maybe normal as I work in a hot environment. What I don’t want to do is get a relationship and infect someone. I guess the fear of infection really puts the freak on you. Thanks.

I understand, it can be worrisome!
