Hello, i am a female and my partner is male (new partner). On July 10th, 2020 we had unprotected sex, and unprotected oral sex (i gave him oral) and the next day i started experiencing constant watery discharge (vaginal, which occurred daily for about a months and a half) on July 17th i noticed a small bump (oral, did not look like a pimple) was forming right below my bottom lip on the right side (it was painful to the touch and when i moved my lips) on July 18th we had sex again unprotected (twice) and i performed unprotected oral again. The next day that same bump turned into a bump that looked like a pimple, it looked like it was ready to burst at any moment, and when i tried to pop it it wasn’t easy to do like it usually is with pimples but pus and blood did come out of it. Then it turned into a scab the next day. A few days later i had a feeling like there was something stuck in the back of my throat everytime i swallowed so i looked in the back of my throat and my tonsils were covered in white and remained like that for 2-3 days max and then went away. I then went on see my dr on 7/22 because in addition to the previous symptoms above, i had started having sharp pains in my vaginal area, bad cramps, stinging sensation in my vaginal area, burning sensations on my vagina area that kind of felt like i had cuts down there but also my skin in my groin area was burning, not to mention the watery discharge was still present daily. My dr did an examination on my vagina and did not see any lesions so she did not feel the need to test me for herpes but my results came back that i had bv. After that the symptoms persisted and then my period which is always normal and comes around the same each month was 5 days late, and it was the heaviest period i have ever had i was bleeding through super tampons every hour. (Normally i don’t even use super tampons just regular) and it lasted 7 days (usually lasts only 5) and it was heavy the entire duration of those 7 days

Continued:(very abnormal for me) the last day of my period was 8/3 and i had another appointment with my doctor on 8/5 and she still seen no lesions and felt no need to test me for herpes but it did show that i had bv again even tho i had just finished the medication to treat it. On 8/6 my top lip was burning and the next day i woke up with a rash on my top lip (not above it but on my actual lip and it resembles fondycle spots and it is still present till this very day) so at that point i decided to go to a lab to get an igg test on 8/10 (4 weeks after exposure) and of course it came back negative (hvs 1&2 <.90) But of course symptoms still were present.. new symptoms started to occur at some point: smelly discharge and a sore throat. My throat had been sore a few days throughout this timeline actually but it was the worst on 8/25 it was very painful to swallow and when i took a look inside my throat i had a few red spots on the back of my throat and on my uvula but they disappeared a day or two later and the pain was gone (idk if this could have been due to the surgery i had on 8/24 which required me to breathe in whatever meds they use to be put to sleep…surgery is unrelated to vagina or mouth btw) anyways finally after weeks my partner finally went to get tested after i explained to him numerous of times that i needed him to be tested because obviously if i have hsv it would have came from him since i was negative at 4 weeks. And of course he tested postive for hsv 1 his index was 30.31 so at that point i felt like my life was over on 9/5 (7 weeks post first exposure) i had an appointment with an obgyn who tested me after i showed her the picture of the bump that i mentioned earlier (below bottom lip) and after i told her my partner was hsv 1 +, and she started me on acyclovir 3x a day for 10 days i took 4 days worth and then my igg results came back as negative again (hsv 1 – 0.10 & hsv2- 0.12) so is stopped taking it but once again i was postive for bv

Continued: ( 3 times in a row now) Few days after that i got 3 bumps on my cheek (face) that look like blisters instead of pimples so I’m nervous about those as well.

So now, 9/20 i still have the rash on my top lip, a sore throat and a sore neck for 3 days, and the stinging and burning sensations on my vagina.
I do plan on testing again at 13 weeks at my next ob appointment but I’m just hoping you have some sort of reassurance for me because i have literAlly been going crazy, and crying every single day because of this. I’m praying that i did not get this hsv. Also I’ll mention that I’m assuming that his Hsv1 is genital since I’m having symptoms in both places and he did not perform oral on me. But he swears he’s never had any type of symptoms anywhere ever.
I’m wondering by any chance do you think i could stay hsv negative?
Do these symptoms sound normal for hsv and to still be experiencing these symptoms 2 months later?
Is it possible to be exposed to hsv and not get it?

& yes i will be purchasing more questions.

Yes, you can stay negative for HSV 1 even if your partner has it.
These symptoms really don’t sound like HSV to me. and they don’t last two months.
To think that your life is over if you acquire HSV 1 is a huge stretch – really? About half the US population has HSV 1. I have it, my husband has it, two of our three children have it, our granddaughter has it. If you have it, you will cope and be OK.
If you have symptoms, either oral or genital they should be swab tested, and not rely simply on an antibody test.

      1. If i am assuming that my partner had ghsv-1 and i gave him unprotected oral sex and then had unprotected vaginal sex directly after, is it possible or what are the chances of me acquiring both during that encounter.

      2. If i assume my partner had oral hsv1 and we kissed intensely then i performed oral sex on him could i have spread the virus from his mouth to his genitals all at that time?

      3. I’ve been experiencing a sore neck for about a week now, only on the right side. Is that a symptom

      4. I noticed a cut on my daughters lip? Does that sound like herpes or would it present as a bump. Also i noticed a small red stop on her top lip on her Cupid’s bow, I’m scared I’ll wake up tomorrow and it’ll be a full blown bump. I’m very scared that i could have given it to her somehow.

      5. How soon after contracting herpes are you able to pass it to someone else?

      6. Does herpes cause bv?

      7. Is testing negative at 7 weeks a good sign? I’m still waiting for 12 weeks to test again, unfortunately that’s two weeks away.

      8. Would me taking the acyclovir for 4 days have any affect on my igg testing?

      9. When i explained my symptoms to my dr At my last appointment she did say the picture i had of the bump i had under my lip looked like herpes so i probably only have oral hsv, (even though the igg ended up being negative at that time) do you think that is true? It’s just odd to me to have symptoms in both places.

      10. Does herpes affect your period? Would it cause excessive blood clots during periods?

      11. I am still having a burning sensation in the vaginal area, if it isn’t herpes what would cause that?

      12. I am still having a burning sensation in the vaginal area, if it isn’t herpes what would cause that?

      13. Is it possible for me to test negative after 12 weeks and still have it? I’m just ready to put this behind me. I research herpes every single day, I’m sick of it but i can’t get it off my mind.

      1. If i am assuming that my partner had ghsv-1 and i gave him unprotected oral sex and then had unprotected vaginal sex directly after, is it possible or what are the chances of me acquiring both during that encounter.

It is possible but highly unlikely

      2. If i assume my partner had oral hsv1 and we kissed intensely then i performed oral sex on him could i have spread the virus from his mouth to his genitals all at that time?

Again, highly unlikely because once you have HSV in one location on your body, it is very unlikely you will get it in a new location

      3. I’ve been experiencing a sore neck for about a week now, only on the right side. Is that a symptom
      No

It doesn’t sound like herpes, no, but remember that children can get HSV 1 from other kids or other adults kissking them. So in the remote chance that she has it, it doesn’t mean that somehow you gave it to her.

      5. How soon after contracting herpes are you able to pass it to someone else?

      Right away

      6. Does herpes cause bv?

      No

      7. Is testing negative at 7 weeks a good sign? I’m still waiting for 12 weeks to test again, unfortunately that’s two weeks away.

Yes, that is a good sign

      I really can’t say – I didn’t see the picture and don’t know

      10. Does herpes affect your period? Would it cause excessive blood clots during periods?
      No

      11. I am still having a burning sensation in the vaginal area, if it isn’t herpes what would cause that?

It could be many things and an OB/GYN would be the best pereson to sort that out – fungal, bacterial, viral, all are possibilties

      12. I am still having a burning sensation in the vaginal area, if it isn’t herpes what would cause that?

This is a repeat of #11

      13. Is it possible for me to test negative after 12 weeks and still have it? I’m just ready to put this behind me. I research herpes every single day, I’m sick of it but i can’t get it off my mind.

Yes. The IgG test misses 30% of HSV 1 infections, compared to the gold standard western blot

I got an IGG test for hsv 1 done on 9/3 and my result were 0.10, i then got retested on 10/21 (which also marks 13 weeks post exposure) and my results were 0.18. Should i be worried that my number increased .08 points in so little time?

I had a white spot underneath my tongue, it’s not a bump or a cut, but it is big and visible…should i be worried?

Does hsv 1 ever show up as acne? On the chin, cheeks and forehead?

The new acne on my face shows up i pop it a clear fluid comes out followed by a lot of blood? Herpetic?? Or not concerning?

No, that should not worry you. it is completely normal for the index values to vary that much.
HSV 1 has a very different appearance than acne.

Hi, I’m wondering if a person has herpes in their cervix how is that diagnosed?
Would a doctor be able to see sores somehow?
Or do they just assume it’s in the cervix based on patients symptoms and a positive blood test?
Also do people with herpes on their cervix have sores on their labia to, or does it just depend?

Yes, if there were lesions on the cervix, they could be seen through a speculum examination.
Not everyone with lesions on the cervix also gets external lesions, no. but when there are a number of lesions on the cervix, a woman might have a very water discharge – not yellow or white but watery.
