Hi Terri, I have read you booked thank you so much. I have been diagnosed with GHSV2 on Feb 7th, 2023, and was on Anti-viral right away within 72 hours of infection for 10 days dose of the initial infection. Then, a month later, I have this rash all over my body. MD said it’s the reaction to the new viral infection that the body tried to fight: pityriasis rosea. MD subscribed me to another anti-viral same dose as the initial OB, then, the rash went away. valACYclovir (VALTREX) 1 gram tablet; Take 1 tablet (1,000 mg total) by mouth 2 (two) times a day for 10 days. Dispense 20 each; Refill: 0.
Note that I am not on daily antiviral for suppressive therapy because there is no sign of OBs. Around 1.5 weeks ago, I started to develop this pain on my stomach’s left side and numbness down my left leg/foot. PA asked for a CT scan for stomach pain and they found diverticulosis throughout my large intestine which explained left stomach pain, however, she did not have any explanation for ongoing numbness on my Left Leg/foot. I kept on asking her if this is because of the HSV2 infection, but she kept on resisting that the numbness is not caused by Herpes. It’s really hard to believe for me since I have never experienced this numbness before the infection. I still do not have any OB so far even tho the numbness is persisted for almost 2 weeks now. I am very concerned that this will be the rest of my life if this is caused by Herpes. I expected numbness/tingling sensation but did NOT expect it to be constant throughout the day and night for 2weeks like this. My question is will this be the rest of my life for me? Should I be on an anti-viral or give it some time to let my body fight it since I don’t have any signs of OB? Lastly, it is because of Herpes right for my ongoing numbness down my leg/foot? If so, I don’t understand why the PA and OB/GYN NP said otherwise. Any advise will be very much appreciated since I have no idea what else to do or how to proceed with this. -Thanks -

We can’t know for certain if the numbness is due to herpes or not. I doubt that herpes would cause numbness and tingling without breaks but I can’t say for certain. What is the impact of adequate doses of antiviral medicine taken daily>
I believe this is a repeat of a post I already answered.
