Hi Terry, thank you for all you do. I (male) had unprotected vaginal sex with a female 23 days ago. Around day five a half dollar sized red rash with appearance of a sunburn that eventually turned to the appearance of dry skin has been present from base of penis to mid shaft. The redness persists , but the dry skin isn’t as apparent. There have been some pinhead size open glistening (ulcers?)areas, but these disappear within a day. There has been no pain, and I attribute any itching to hair regrowth from shaving. There has also been no sign of blistering aside from the pinhead size things that disappear quickly. Is an initial outbreak likely to have no ulcers/scabs that last more than a day? I will have one follow up question, and again thank you. I plan on having my blood tested but am waiting 90 days for the antibodies to build for accuracy.
Follow up question: the only contact was vaginal intercourse. I’ve noticed some rectal itching, along with white discharge from the rectum, and lesions/redness in the perineum and around the rectum. There was no sexual contact in this area, is it possible for herpes to manifest in this area despite no contact?
Your presentation sounds more like a fungal infection than herpes, both due to the presence or redness but no real sores and itching and the fact that it is also around the rectum and perineum. Have you tried treating with over the counter antifungal medicine?
Terri
I have not. I was able to get an appt with my gp and will inquire. Thank you again for your response.
