Hi Terry,
I posted on asktheexperts but just wanted your opinion. I had a protected oral exposure about 10 days ago. A plastic covering (not a condom) was used. Received oral for about 2 minutes. The plastic covering appeared to do its job. About a week later I started to feel warmth from within my penis and overall discomfort in the entire private area. I woke up today with a red spot in my pubic area and went to urgent care and she said it looked like folliculitis and was told it can’t be swabbed. I did a test for peace of mind about 8 days from exposure and everything was negative hsv2 .18 and hsv1 1.61. I’ve had hsv1 for years.
My questions are as follows
Is there any possible chance this could be hsv2? The urgent care doctor said if the woman had an active cold sore and I received unprotected oral I could get hsv2 which I feel like isn’t right. But I was protected is there a chance that remnants could have gone to the pubic area?
I was diagnosed with prostatitis or CPPS the last time I spoke with you and am hoping this is just symptoms of that bc of the anxiety over the encounter. Do you think I need additional testing in the weeks to come ?
I look forward to your response. Thank you
You don’t get HSV 2 from oral sex and the plastic covering would protect you against getting HSV 1 as well. How would remnants get to your penis? This situation does not present any risk of HSV 2 acquisition so you can put that worry to bed.

Hi Terri,
Thanks for the response. That’s what I figured after reading through the forum. So essentially Im at zero risk for hsv2 and the fact that I already have hsv1 would prevent me from acquiring it genitally as well? I do not plan to test further and put this issue behind me if you agree?
Thank you!
