› Forums › Herpes Questions › Outbreak in two areas simultaneously
Hello,
I have been going through what I believe to be my first genital outbreak (waiting on swab result but all signs point to it), and am on day 4 of 1000mg valtrex.
My symptoms so far have been very mild and today (1 week after noticing them) they have stopped/gone away.
However tonight I started to feel a strange “tight” sensation on an area of my chin, it could maybe be described as a tingling or numb feeling. I immediately panicked (I have been reading about this condition non stop all week so I know many people report tingling as a first sign) — ran to the mirror and noticed a small patch of redness about the size of a thumbnail there. No blisters or raised areas, just a red patch.
I’m terrified this means I’ve contracted HSV both orally and genitally and am on the brink of a facial breakout too. I’ve never had cold sores before.
I am prone to dry skin so would love to chalk it up to that but I don’t normally experience issues on my chin so I’m fearing the worst. Is it possible to have contracted it in both areas?? Is it likely? I feel like I’m living a nightmare.
It is possible to contract HSV both orally and genitally if you had intercourse with and gave oral sex to the same person, yes. If this is herpes on your chin, you will most likely develop water blisters that break, ulcerate and scab. If you are particularly worried at this point, you could go and have it swab tested right away. However, I would have expected if this was herpes also that you would have gotten oral and genital symptoms at the same time, not this far apart.
Terri
