Hi Terri
The other day I went swimming and ended up with a few bites on my back and elbow. A day or so later I noticed a spot on my inner thigh. Does this look like an outbreak to you or another bite? It itches mildly and I’ve never had an outbreak here before. Is there a way to attach a photo?
Thanks

There is not a way to post pictures here, no. Do you have herpes? Usually outbreaks on the thigh look like little water blisters in a group on a red base.

Hi Terri.
Do outbreaks on the thigh usually hurt/itch? The other spot was a bite. I have another spot now that sort of looks like an infected hair follicle. I have had HSV 2 for many years. I have constant tingling which we have discussed before. I have had swabs done for shedding which showed negative for the virus. So I don’t know what the tingling is.
I have new partner who knows about the virus, we are sexually active. I am on valtrex 1000mg taken 500g in the morning and 500g at night. I have follicilitus on my bikini line and infected hair follicles/little pimple type things all up my legs. Does it sound like this red spot is just a prolific version of one of those?
I am really having a hard time discerning the difference between something that is an outbreak and something that is not.
This red spot did not hurt or itch. I ended up picking it out of anxiety and now it hurts a bit and has a small scab but it was never really a blister. Just a small red spot. My intuition is telling me it’s not herpetic but my anxiety is telling me it might be ๐
What do you think? Thanks for your input.

I don’t know what the tingling is either. Sometimes outbreaks on the thigh do hurt or itch and in my experience, they are often grouped vesicles or blister.

If I had to guess, I would say yes. But just a guessI am really having a hard time discerning the difference between something that is an outbreak and something that is not.
I know. I guess you could start swabbing things and sending in the swabs and when you get negatives, then you would know that things that look like that in the future are not herpes.

I think not, but again, just an opinion.
