Hi Terri,
I am a 26 yo F. I had my first ever sexual encounter November 2019. Prior to this I had not even really kissed anyone. We had oral and vaginal sex. I am a nurse and far to aware of all the things out there. The oral sex was unprotected and we always used a condom. He never gave me oral sex. We were together for about a month (maybe had sex 6-7 times) I don’t know his status and we don’t talk anymore.Anyways the condom broke one night (the sex was typically a little rougher) fast forward to 2 weeks later after I masterbated I noticed my labia minora was very irritated, red and sensitive to touch never had any sores develop. I went through a dark rabbit hole of the internet of stds. I went to go see my pcp and had a vaginal exam where they swabbed me for the standard stds. I also had a full panel std test done. Everything came up negative, but swab was positive for yeast. (This was about 3 weeks after the condom broke, which now I know was not long enough) the diflucan had worked and I was feeling better. My Igg hsv 1 0.79 and hsv2 0.13. My mom has had cold sores all my life. And did tell me that I had one when I was little ( 1-2 years old) But have never had one again. She kissed me on my neck when I was little when she had one because she thought that would be safe and then a couple weeks later I had one on my lip. So unsure is it missed my hsv 1 infection.
Anyways I put the std scare behind me and (I know I know) dumb I didn’t ask him about his status. I trusted him for some stupid reason because it was a terrible relationship that caused me to lose 25lbs in a month but I was meeting his family and thought he wouldn’t do that to me. I might also add this relationship was very stressful.
( sorry this is long, have to post one continued onto the next comment) -

The condom broke once more in 12/2019. I never saw any sores on him, we were together every week. I didn’t have any other issues with irritation, sores or anything like after the diflucan. I was hyper focused on my perineum, I noticed more discharge and Itchiness but I probably looked at myself 5 X day and examined myself. Never noticed anything.
Our relationship ended and I still checked myself at least 5 X a week. I got a labiaplasty in 3/2020. Recovered from that. Did have an issue with suture retention in where they had to several months later cut me again to get them out. I had some scabbing along the incision line after the initial surgery that the md assured me was normal healing.Around august/September I decided I needed to move on and decided to cut back on my checking down there. But then I had masurbated and my nails were long. I noticed the next day or so that I had like a shiny abrasion 3mm where my nails were place while self stimulating. I chalked it up that I was a little to rough with myself. I put some Vaseline on it and it went away 2 days later. It was never a sore, cut or anything typical of herpes. It was so hard to see, I wouldn’t have even noticed it if I hadn’t touched it Because it was so hard to see.
STDs were pretty much out of my mind, sometimes they would creep up and I would go back to checking. This happened in December 2020 when I came down with Covid. I went back to work after my 2 weeks and the mask seemed to irritated my lips. They felt almost like I had a sunburn they were swollen and burned for about a week. Never any sores appear but I did use some of my moms abreva because I was unsure. It lasted almost a week. I did touch my lip and then I was started to have anxiety again so I was checking my gentiles too. I don’t remember if I washed my hands in between.(so after reading the forum) fear autoinocculatuon has set in. -

(Continued) I might also add I have not had any other sexual partners since him. On January 13th 2021 I had masturbated while on my period and was wearing a pad. I felt the pad pinch me a few times during the day and at night right around my clit. I went to work the next morning didn’t shower. I had been checking myself everyday up to this point and hadn’t noticed anything. I had an itch in my clit and it stung a little upon investigation I noticed that there was small red spot on my clit maybe 1mm in size. Tender to touch (like stung) and blanchable. It wasn’t there the night before because I would have have felt it while masturbating. Stressing over it I looked at 100 times with a magnifier didn’t have a crater, or have a border. just a little tender red spot. By January 15th when I woke up it was gone. No more redness, still little tender touch but by 1/15 evening the tenderness was gone too. So maybe there 36 hours in total. Obviously began to spiral, I was going to go to the see my gyn Monday but it had disappeared. Since then I have been so hypersensitive any bump I see I am like is this it?! The pimples, I pop and then I keep trying to pop them I irritate them more. I am going to see my gyn and get a lab test but have been trying to find the courage. I have lost weight and haven’t been sleeping.
So to recap:
December 2019 condom broke fast forward to over a year later with no issues even after labiplasty, and URI where I was on steroids in January 2020, fine when I had Covid. Have been seen by multiple gyn and mds who say that everything has looked fine. To all of a sudden have a sore pop up? Does this sounds herpatic to you? Are lesions typically blanchable? I had that heart infection but there no sores ever during that time. I am just nervous to have my life turned upside down, my sex life changed.

I think it is extremely unlikely that you have genital herpes. Condoms reduce transmission from men to women by 96% when used with every intercourse, and a single broken condom means a single unprotected intercourse which is highly unlikely to result in infection. The small red spot that you describe sounds nothing like a herpes lesion. Your antibody test was done how long after the broken condom incident?

Hi thank you for your reply. The condom broke twice while we were together. That was my thought process but a after going through the scary avenues of the internet I am just terrified.
My antibody test was only 3 weeks after the contact. I would have retested if I had known that it is best to wait 12 weeks.
I am going Monday to test my igg but am of course scared for the result. And after reading another post where they quoted that having Covid antibodies can cause false positives makes even more nervous that it won’t be accurate. What are your thoughts in that data?
Also with my mom kissing my neck as a baby with an active cold sore can that result in transmission? Again haven’t had a cold sore since I was 1-2 years old ( that I know of) I get terrible canker sore when stressed which I know are unrelated.

this is the first I’ve heard of an interaction between COVID and IgG testing for herpes so I honestly don’t know what to make of it but am checking with my expert source on this.
Honestly, I don’t think the history of you getting a cold sore on your mouth from your mom kissing your neck is accurate. The skin of the neck, even in a child, is not sufficient to infect someone unless there was a significant break in the skin of the neck at that exact time. You are out of questions but if you want to renew and let me know your IgG results I would be happy to discuss them with you

Hi Terri I purchased additional questions. As I wait to get my IGG I was just curious.
1-are herpes ulcers typically blanchable?
2-could my first outbreak been confused with my yeast infection. Even though I never developed any sore (had a vaginal exam at the time and no internal sore seen)and it was just redness that went away after I used fungal cream and fluconazole?
3- if I missed my initial outbreak would it be fair to conclude that I would have had an outbreak at one point of the listed events, when I got a labiaplasty, was on steroids, had the sutures removed (was recut), or had Covid?
4- say I missed my initial outbreak, would a reoccurrence be so minor, one small red spot 2 mm and go away in 36 hours? Over a year later?
Thank you

I think that is very unlikely3- if I missed my initial outbreak would it be fair to conclude that I would have had an outbreak at one point of the listed events, when I got a labiaplasty, was on steroids, had the sutures removed (was recut), or had Covid?
It seems to me that you might have yes, if you acquired HSV 2.4- say I missed my initial outbreak, would a reoccurrence be so minor, one small red spot 2 mm and go away in 36 hours? Over a year later?
If you have HSV 2, that seems unlikelyTerri
