      Hi Terri,
I got HSV2 from my first sexual partner around 20+ years ago. Found out from an STI screening long after the relationship ended, came back positive for HSV1 and HSV2 IGM/IGG. At the time I didn’t have any symptons that I knew of (for either oral or genital). Sometime down the road in 2011 I had another blood test done (IGG) and it came back positive for HSV2 and negative HSV1. Had another one done in 2012 and again positive for HSV2 and negative HSV1. Around 2014 I had some minor discomfort down there around the time of my gyno visit. They wanted to diagnose it as a yeast infection but I asked them to swab it for HSV. The results came back positive for HSV (did not get the type). Around 2015 I had again what I thought might be an outbreak so I started on antiviral suppression, acyclovir 800mg per day. Since then everything had been fine, no nothing going on down there. Until October of last year when I had a more obvious outbreak, more than previous ones. I doubled the acyclovir for a couple of days and it went away quickly. Had my prescription changed from 800mg/day of acyclovir to 500mg/day of valacyclovir after that and then everything was fine.. until December when I had an even bigger outbreak that got completely out of control. This outbreak also added a new symptom, tingling up and down my legs. This went on for a month and the only thing that calmed it down was to do 1gr of valacyclovir twice a day. When I got it calmed down I went to 500mg twice a day, but that didn’t last long. I am getting breakouts practically every week. I take 1 gr 2x per day to get it stamped down only for it to come back a week later. I don’t understand, why is it acting this way after being so mild for 20+ years?? I got my regular blood testing in October and everything came out fine. Also had a regular gyno check-up right before the October outbreak and everything was fine. I consider myself to be a healthy person, what do you think is going on?

Have these outbreaks actually been tested by swab test to determine that they are actually HSV? If not, I would strongly suggest that they be swab tested, even if you are pretty sure they are HSV, OK? This just doesn’t fit well with how HSV behaves in the healthy person. Tell me exactly what this looks like please

      Terri
