Hello ,
So I had unprotected sex with a guy in May. It was a one night stand. Just for my mental I got STD testing and came back positive for Mgen ( I think that’s how you spell it) as well as HSV2 – 1.49 was my value. ( which was 11 weeks post possible exposure). I was stressed about the results so at 12.5 weeks I got tested again and my results dropped to .99 value. Due to the uncertainty I got tested at 14 weeks at a different clinic who used a different lavatory and my results were 1.05. Since I was still in the equivocal I decided to test one last time at another clinic with different laboratory from the first two at 17 weeks and my results were .99 again. So this has been very stressful to me. I am not getting a clear result and don’t really have the funds for western bolt. I haven’t had any major symptoms. Just mild irritation. I am prone to BV as well as yeast infections which can be the cause. I don’t have any sores or bump. I do deal with an autoimmune disease and Ive started a new medication called Infliximab which is an infusion taken once every 4 weeks. Not sure if thats messing with my numbers or if I am truly positive. What should I do? What should I consider my results? How should I interpret all of this? I’m just very stressed and confused. I’ve had 2 doctors tell me that I’m positive for HSV2 and need to accept the results but I’m not willing to settle just yet.
Hey , just wanted to check in to see if you had accidentally skipped over my question.
I think it is highly unlikely that you have HSV 2. You’ve been all around that low positive -equivocal range and I suspect if you were infected, the number would be going higher. I would NOT accept these results as real if I were you. If you were worried, save up for the blot. I doubt that the new meds are messing with your HSV results, though. If you told me your result was 1.1, I would tell you that there is a 95% chance you are not infected.
