75 days ago i had unprotected sex. It wasnt longer than 10 minutes i ejaculated in her and didnt shower after.
This past weekend i had very little sleep. After the weekend i was sick with a runny nose, a cough and a bit of throat pain. My friends also got sick so i dont think this was a relevant symptom. However, it began to start stinging when i peed so i went to the doctor and did a full STD test. They prescribed my doxycycline and gave me a shot to begin treatment because they thought i had chlamydia. Around 3 days later the stinging went away.
The test results came back and i had a index of 1.34 i want to note that i also took a test the following day with quest and it came back 1.33. I am currently waiting on the inhibition results to come back and am praying it comes back negative.
Questions:
1. I had taken a HSV2 IgG test 1 year ago and the results came back negative. Is this a really bad sign that a year later i see this spike? Does it make it less likely to be a false positive?
2. What are your thoughts on this index number? I know low numbers are typically false positives but my concern with this one is that the potential exposure was only 11 weeks ago. Does this make it less likely to be a false positive since it was so recent?
3. Would we expect a higher number or is this an expected number after 11 weeks?
4. I have never had lesions or sores of any kind. What are your overall thoughts do you think this is likely or unlikely be a false positive?
5. How accurate would you say the inhibition test is from quest?
6. Would we expect some sort of symptom by now?
Thank you so much this is a very stressful time for me i appreciate your support.

I want to add that a year ago i was negative with 0.3. So this massive jump from 0.3 to 1.34 is freaking me out.
What are your thoughts on this large jump?

No, I still think there is a good chance that this is a false positive.2. What are your thoughts on this index number? Does this make it less likely to be a false positive since it was so recent?
No, the timing doesn’t matter here. I still think it is more likely than not a false positive result.3. Would we expect a higher number or is this an expected number after 11 weeks?
If it was a true positive, it might well be higher.4. I have never had lesions or sores of any kind. What are your overall thoughts do you think this is likely or unlikely be a false positive?
Likely a false positive5. How accurate would you say the inhibition test is from quest?
If negative, those results have good agreement with negative western blots in the same person. We have seen several false positive inhibition assays as compared to the blot6. Would we expect some sort of symptom by now?
Probably, yesThank you so much this is a very stressful time for me i appreciate your support.
You’re welcome
