Hello. I hope to make this a long story short. I got a sugar wax for the first time in September 2022, experienced a tremendous amount of pain in one particular spot on the outside lip of vagina. 2 weeks later what seem like an in grown hair/bump formed in this same spot. Painful and some burning symptoms. The gyn literally cut me open(deeply) and stated this was to confirm if there was a cyst wall, instead of treating me for an ingrown hair. This was tested for HSV, came back negative. No other medicine was given to me and was told to just do a Sitz bath with Idodine. I never had a bump or irritation until this sugar wax. My assumptions were MRSA or some type of skin bacterial infection.
2 months later, the same bump comes back. Tested and Swabbed again for HSV it comes back positive. This was on going for the course of a year with 3 break outs in total and these would happen if I use a soap or sanitary pad that would irritate this particular spot. HSV positive then negative etc. Only difference what seemed the be MRSA came about 4 months ago. I was given Cephalexin. However Just two days ago a MRSA like bump came then it bursted on it own now looks like it has spread a bit and is oozing puss and it’s red. Like a rash but worse. No pain, only sensation and sensitivity. I was given Bactrim. Awaiting swab results currently.
Back in June 2023 I was tested positive by blood for HSV 1 IGG – 2.32 & HSV 2 IGG 15.10.
As I stated I never had symptoms until this sugar wax. Nothing has helped so far expect Chinese medicine. (Herb wash and Erythromycin). I don’t think it’s strong enough. I refuse to take Valacyclovir for personal reasons as it made feel worse internally. I am a 29 yo female. As you may know this has been life changing and very emotional for me. I refuse to believe I have this infection. Never tested positive for any STI/STD. I would love your outlook and perspective. What is your advice for me please? -

SULFAMETHOXAZOLE-TRIMETHOPRIM is what I was just given. The same as Bactrim if I’m not mistaken..

Wait, I’m confused. You refuse to believe that you have HSV 2 with a positive swab test and an index value for HSV 2 of 15.10?
Yes, you were treated with Bactrim. But this wasn’t for HSV but rather the other infection.
I’m confused about why you don’t believe you have genital HSV 2?Terri

I do not believe I have HSV because I never had a break out nor tested positive for this in the past. Not until this sugar wax and this doctor cut me wide open without my knowledge. I was never given medication for my in grown hair from 1 year ago. That could have been a skin infection and she did not prescribe anything for me, not even an antibiotic. As I stated when the biopsy results came back, as this was Swabbed as well. Both biopsy and swab was negative. I also stated the swab was negative then positive many times over after that with a break out each time. I truly believe I was given HSV by her tools or it formed into HSV from me not getting treated for the skin infection. I don’t get the reoccurring bump in that initial spot. I get the reaction from where she cut me WIDE open. It’s not even a bump anymore. Really at this current time, it’s almost like my flesh is showing and it’s ONLY where she cut me open. Should I do the Western Blot?

I was JUST now only given Bactrim 2 days ago.
If I had a skin infection it could’ve turned worse without 1 year of treatment no? I believe everything is connected so I will test myself in a months time with the Blot. I hope you understand my case. I understand it is unique so if you can help me in any way I would appreciate it. Thank you. -

I think I do understand. You had not had any symptoms until you had the sugar wax is that correct? And you don’t believe that you have HSV two it except it sounds like you do believe you have it because you’ve had positive swab tests from what you report as multiple outbreaks and a high IgG antibody result. But you think you got it from the Doctor Who did a biopsy? Just to clarify, skin infections don’t turn into herpes. Herpes is a completely separate thing from other skin infections. Also, it is pretty common for people who get waxing in the genital area to have that action elicit an outbreak when one has not been noticed in the past. Waxing really irritates the nerves in that area and it’s pretty common for that to be the reason for a first recognized outbreak. If you want to do a western blot you surely can. But I don’t doubt for a moment that you have HSV two, given positive swab tests and positive antibody test at that level.
