39 y/o male. I haven’t had sex in almost ten years, though it was unprotected. A new relationship motivated me to get tested at LabCorp. Negative for HSV 1, and positive for HSV 2 at 3.7. the supplemental test read negative. I have never experienced any symptoms.
I understand 3.7 is high for a “low positive,” and negative supplemental confuses me further. What do you make of this result? Recommended next step?
There is quite good agreement between a negative supplemental test and a negative western blot. But you are correct that this is a higher low positive. You could do the blot for greater certainty, but a negative supplemental is very good news, compared to a positive one.
