I am in my mid 40s, heterosexual and was diagnosed with HPV last summer and have not had a recurrence since. after the HPV was removed, I started experiencing a burning sensation and some discomfort and in a small area near where it was removed. At some point it looked like a small excoriation even though I had not been rubbing or scratching that area. That eventually went away but it happened one more time;though I did not see any redness or excoriation the second time. I attributed this to perhaps the PHV that was removed. I became concern about the possibility of this being HSV. Not sure what are the chances of getting both Viruses at the same time. I have had oral HSV-1 pretty much since I was a kid with sore on my lip frequently all into adulthood. Now, I rarely get them and if I do there are very small and go away quickly without me doing anything. I figure If I were to have HSV it would be HSV-2. Based on what I have read, once you have HSV-1 in one body part it is unlikely to get in another part. I went ahead and did the HSV Western Blot in order to be sure. As expected it came back positive for HSV-1 and I was glad to see that it was negative for HSV-2. That gave me reassurance so was fine for several months. This week,I once again have burning and redness , no definitive lesions that I can see but I am concern. I did masturbate several times over my underwear which may have caused some friction but it has been several days and I still feel the burning. I feel tingling in my scrotum which is why I am hesitant to attribute it to the friction with masturbation over clothing. I’ve also have had yeast infection in the groin area in the past and I do have some redness in the groin so I am treating that but that should not affect my penis. the anxiety level this is creating is enormous. How likely am I to have genital HSV-1 after having oral HSV-1 my whole life?
Extremely unlikely! Tingling alone is really not a symptom of herpes – HPV is far more common than HSV so I would not assume, if I were you, that because you got one you got the other. Your symptoms are not really consistent with herpes.
