I am a 20 year old male who had possible herpes exposure on December 22nd and 28th. The same male performed oral sex on me these two dates. Although there was no penetration, the skin of my “boxer region” was definitely in contact with the skin of his. On January the 2nd, I found a large, painless bump on my shaft that appeared to be a chancre. Additionally, I noticed a few tiny, painless bumps (that did not look like fordyce spots) that did not seem to have puss but did not panic because such bumps have appeared before on my penis as well as other parts of my skin long before I was sexually active. On January 8th, my doctor examined me and was so convinced that I had syphilis that he gave me two penicillin shots right away. Additionally, he ran a full STD panel on me (which included an IGG HSV1 and HSV2 test as well as two syphilis tests). Everything came back negative. The initial “chancre” has since healed. 3 or 4 days after being examined by my doctor, I noticed a patch of dry, raw skin on my shaft towards the head that healed in about two days. Shortly after this patch healed, I began noticing pimples (which I successfully popped) liberally spread out on my thighs and on my buttox. (I should add that as a wearer of tight pants, thigh and buttox acne are not new to me). The tiny, painless penis bumps that I previously mentioned have not disappeared. I have also been noticing similar bumps on both my thighs (which also seem to not have puss) that I find to be particularly concerning. I have experienced no pain while urinating, little itching, no swollen lymph nodes, nor any other “classic” herpes symptoms. The only other symptom I had was one night in which my right thigh was slightly itchier than normal, but nothing noteworthy. I’m terrified that I have herpes. Can I trust the results of my IGG HSV test? When should I be retested? Based on the symptoms and the pictures (which I took today), does this look like herpes? Anything to cure my anxiety will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! *Thing to add, my red and blood cell counts were completely normal*

When you saw your doctor, did he/she say anything about the possibility of molluscum contagiosum on the penis? The thigh and buttocks bumps look like simple pimples. None of this looks anything like herpes to me.

I saw him again yesterday and he told me that my thigh bumps looked like molluscum contagiosum whereas the bumps on my shaft looked like hpv 6 and 11. He gave me some medicine to treat the bumps an d recommended that I come back in late March for a herpes blood test just to be safe. I might be confused, but the bumps on my shaft look nothing like hpv 6 and 11. Am I just looking at bad pictures or should I consider getting f a second opinion?

Well I think the bumps on your penis look somewhat like molluscum and I think it might benefit you to get a second opinion. Was the doctor that you saw a dermatologist? Sometimes HPV and molluscum get mixed up. Molluscum are flesh colored and they have a tiny dot in the center that’s indented. If you nick the top of the bump with a needle and it’s molluscum then you can squeeze out a hard white Center. This may be something you don’t want to do but at the minimum I might seek a second opinion.
I can’t see great detail in the pictures that you sent so my opinion may not be correct. I would advise you to see a different provider for another opinion however. You have one more question left ask on your subscription so please feel free to use it.
