Hello, I (male) have developed some strange symptoms after a sexual encounter recently, I will try to detail as much as possible! I received unprotected oral sex one night for a few minutes followed by 10 minutes of protected vaginal sex. 5 days later I started to develop symptoms of a UTI, and the next day I tested positive foe covid so I spent a week feeling sorry for myself and constantly worrying about the possibility of having contracted an STD. About 2 weeks after the encounter I started to notice that I was getting some tingling in the groin area and some strange sensations and that my penis head was red and sore, the frenulum/underside of the head was inflamed and there was a lightning shaped red line about half an inch in length going down from the frenulum. Since then (33 days after possible exposure) I have also developed a red raw, itchy and scaly scrotum, and a bit of a rash in one of my groin folds. The rash looks like small red spots, some of them look like they are on the hair follicles some of them aren’t, it is a bit itchy but it does get temporary relief when I put clotrimazole on it, the scrotum gets some relief too, but the head of the penis is 50/50 on whether there is relief from the clotrimazole or it gets worse for an hour or so! I have had 3 STD screens carried out on my urine, all negative, and a negative IGG test for herpes at 3.5 weeks. I am also awaiting results of a blood test for syphillis/hepatitis/HIV and I will arrange for another herpes IGG test at 6 weeks then 12 weeks.
Could this be an atypical presentation of a first outbreak? Is it possible that a lot of this could be psychosomatic? I haven’t had any lesions nor fever or enlarged lymph nodes.
this sounds nothing like a herpes outbreak to me. It does sound more fungal in nature. You are treating it with steroids, but you might benefit from treatment with antifungals?
Terri
