Hoping you can help me get some clarity since I can’t seem to find a good answer anywhere online. I received unprotected oral sex from someone that wiped me down with rubbing alcohol both before and after oral sex and she used listerine before giving me oral. I stopped it after a minute because I got freaked out.

I’ve done several rounds of std testing all negative but didn’t test herpes until a week and a half ago. I tested positive for hsv 1 (22.5 on Igg, is that considered high?) which I fully understand because I used to get cold sore as a child, well into my teen years. Actually think I had one or 2 in college as well. Im waiting on another round of testing to check for hsv 2, 2 weeks after my first test.

I guess my question is what are the chances of me getting ghsv 1 since I already had antibodies from cold sores when I was younger?

Also I know it’s considered rare that hsv 2 is passed orally but I never can seem to find any type of stats about it besides it being rare. What are the odds here?

Also let me clarify the timeline of everything to give you a more accurate picture:

The unprotected oral sex was New Year’s Day, this year. First round of std testing was Jan 5th, second round Jan 14th, third round was Jan 21st. All negative across the board but didn’t test for hsv1/2.

Decided to do another test on Feb 1st, this time with hsv 1/2 Igg test. All negative besides the hsv 1 of a 22.5 which I stated before makes sense since I did get cold sores as a kid.

Did another round of all tests again this past Saturday the 12th and now waiting on results. I know it can take some time for potentially hsv 2 Igg to present itself, but that test would be a full 6 weeks since potentially exposure and know that there’s like a 70% chance by that time period of being positive or not.

Ok so my second round of tests have come back finally. This round was 6 weeks after potentially being exposed to hsv2.

My Igg for hsv 1 raised slightly, this time was a 22.8 when 2 weeks ago it was a 22.5

I still showed negative on hsv 2. Still get that it can be early for positive tests to I guess I’m going to have to wait another month before I can really find out for sure?

OMG, wiped down your genital with alcohol? Yipes!
Your oral HSV 1 will offer you almost full protection against getting HSV 1 genitally.
It would be extremely unlikely to acquire HSV 2 from receiving oral sex. I wouldn’t give it another thought if it were me.

Thanks. I do have a question on Igg test scores.

22.5 and 22.8. I assume since it shows that high that means I’ve hard this for quite some time? Trying to understand the scoring aspect in terms of time. Like I said, I remember getting a cold sore as a kid several times. I’m 34 years old so just trying to understand how the score relates to how long ago you were exposed and became a carrier

Another question, am scheduled another IGG test for this coming Monday the 28th, marking over 8 weeks since I might have been exposed. Am I wasting my time and money (paying out of pocket)? Saw your comment that I shouldn’t worry about it so just wanted your opinion here if it makes sense to test again or not?

      Thank you!

with index values that high, I see no need for future testing. You’ve been infected with HSV 1 and 2 for a while, certainly, but can’t give you any more specific dating than that.

Sorry, I think I’ve confused you here. I’ve tested so far only positive for hsv 1, those scores above are the two different Igg scores so far. I’ve tested negative so far for hsv 2.

I did another test on the 28th, waiting to get that back. My curiosity was whether you think I should have gotten this new test done, 8 weeks after potential exposure. If it comes back negative for hsv 2 which im hoping for, I assume it’s fair to say in my case, I didn’t contract it?

So Igg for hsv 1 was 22.5 at 4 weeks, Igg for hsv 1 at 6 weeks was 22.8

Negative for hsv 2 on both tests so far

Took another test this Monday waiting for those results

Got my updated Igg test scores from the test I took Monday.

20.5 for hsv 1 (down from my 2 pervious scores of 22.5 and 22.8 for hsv 1) and still negative for hsv 2 after 8 weeks from potentially being exposed. Guess I should call this chapter closed? Do you think I should test again at 12 weeks

Some people will convert to positive after 8 weeks on the IgG test but not often. The 12 weeks is more essential for the blot. I think you could close this worry at this point
