Hello, 3 days ago I had sex with an escort.
I already have HSV-1 orally. Had it since I was a kid and get breakouts whenever i’m overly stressed.
Recently I’ve been taking acyclovir to prevent full blown breakouts.
I kissed the escort (french kiss) and also did unprotected oral sex on her and she also gave me oral unprotected. Penetration was used with protection, however.
I saw no open sores during intercourse. But I’ve heard with HSV that doesn’t really matter since it shed.
I also rubbed her vagina and had some fluids on my hands. Possibly touched my penis afterwards too.
What are the chances I contracted HSV-2 genitally or orally from this? Also i’ve been taking 400mg Acyclovir whenever I get that tingling feeling. Should I refrain from doing so to get accurate test results?

I’d also like to point out that I have these small red bumps on my pubic bone area. Not sure if they are cold sores. Doesn’t seem like there are any fluids inside them. Looks more like a rash.

It seems unlikely that you would acquire herpes in this situation but if you have bumps on your pubic bone area I would certainly suggest that you have them evaluated by a clinician right away. The biggest risk here is probably you giving her oral sex but HSV to transmission via this method it is highly unlikely.

Could you explain how it’s unlikely to get HSV2 in this situation?

It is low risk because you used a condom with intercourse and you are really not at any significant risk of acquiring HSV one genitally because you are ready have it orally and getting a new infection in a new location would be highly unusual in that situation. I already described for you why acquiring HSV-2 from giving her oral sex is low risk.

How much risk of HSV 2 is reduced when wearing a condom? In this scenario where she could have HSV 2 genitally and wasn’t taking any anti virals.

Condoms reduce the risk of transmission from females to males by about 50% or maybe a little better

Does having HSV1 orally protect me getting HSV1/HSV2 either genitally or orally?

It offers huge protection against getting HSV 1 genitally but doesn’t offer protection against HSV 2 infection but does make acquisition more likely to be with no or minimal symptoms.

Should I not take any antivirals in the meantime if I’m looking to get tested for herpes 4-5 weeks from now?

Terri,
The small red circles on top of where my pubic hair ends (few inches below belly button) is still there after 2 days. They are not raised bumps. Just looks like some kind of light rash or bunch of ants bit me or something. Doesn’t itch or tingle. Also I took one pill of 400mg acyclovir yesterday. Will this affect me at all? I’m in a country right now where getting an STD test is not really possible. So my only diagnosis is through this forum right now. I’ll be going to the states in a month to finally get tested.

This does not sound consistent with herpes to me but you should NOT be using this forum as a diagnostic tool, please
