On labor day weekend I had protected anal sex with a person that has HSV 2 and tkes valacyclovir daily. couple days after the intercourse, my pennies started itchinng and burning, I had no blisters or sores. I wnt on like this for about two weeks, i went to a public clinic and a private clinic and was tested for all std including HSV1,2 ALL came back negative. I was prescribed Acyclovyr and notice it didnt help with the burning and itching, it only caused joint, muscle, dry mouth, itching, burning and testicular and pennies pain also numb felling not only on my pennis and testicles but my back, arms, legs. I went to and urgent care clinic and, they say there was no visiual symptoms of herpes and I got prescribed a pill for yeast infection and anti fungal cream, this pill actually help for the sallowness and the itching and burning. I also went o the ER for etreme pain on the testicles, got meds for all std and an ultrasound, they say there are no visual symptons and even my testicles were not inflameted. just told to continue withthe acylovir and wait to get tested again. I went to a third primary care and got tested again Negative herpes exposure ;(HSV 2 GLYCOPROTEIN G AB, IGG) HSV 2 Glycoprotein G Ab, IgG within range; 0.17 and normal range; IV.

This is the date of my last test. 27 days after exposure.

I know that probably its too soon to tell by blood work but if its not herpes don’t know what to do next, or even wonder if I m having secondary reactions for the acyclovir 3 x day. Also is there a possibility, that acyclovir is causing a false negative stopping my body of creating antibodies to fight the infection, therefore nos being able to be detected on blood (the first test came back negative and I wasn’t on acylovyr yet, however it had only been a couple days after the exposure).Ill finish my second prescription of acyclovir on Oct 29. Now, hard to get erections.

Taking acyclovir early in a possible new infection will impact antibody development, yes. If you want the most accurate antibody test, you cannot take acyclovir and get it. And it is too soon for an accurate antibody test but really, your situation does not sound high risk of a condom was used for all of the sexual contact.

I”m wondering if you were sensitive to this particular condom. Have you use to it before?

So in this case I should stop taking the acyclovir and just wait to see if I get symptoms? No I never used this condom before. D you think the pain localized on my pennies is due to the medicine or thats definitely HSV2. its kind of like muscular pain not a rash pain. Bout the medicine reaction, don’t know if its due to acyclovir or herpes symptoms with a lower intensity due to the medicine.

I think it is extremely unlikely to be herpes but obviously I can’t say 100%. Herpes also does not normally present with a muscular pain. Rather, usually, if there is pain, it is due to lesions and you are not describing that here.
It is completely possible that your irritation is caused by something in this condom that you have not used before.
If you want the most accurate antibody test in 12 weeks, stopping acyclovir would be best.
