Hello, I am female and my previous boyfriend was hsv2 positive. During our 6 month relationship, we slept together without protection and were monogamous. He has had it for about five years and has no symptoms. I have had any suspicious abnormalities swabbed and have had multiple blood tests in this time. All have been negative.
A few nights ago I performed oral sex with one female partner and also had intercourse with another male partner. We originally used a condom but it came off during the encounter. We had sex three times and I think that half the time we did not use protection. I am very aware that this was careless.
The next day I began to feel a dampness and got diarrhea and this evening I noticed what looks like three blisters between my buttocks. I have booked an appointment to see the doctor and have them swabbed tomorrow.
My questions are as follows
1. if I am shedding or contagious genitally, am I also contagious orally? I did not think that this was the case but just came across a web page suggesting this. Am terrified that I have herpes and have transmitted it giving oral sex to a female partner, if in fact I do have herpes and did not realize. She did not reciprocate.
2. When I had intercourse with the male partner I assume that I would have been contagious and shedding before I had symptoms. What are the chances of him having caught it from me?
I’m aware that these concerns all rely on me actually having herpes, which I will try to confirm asap. But right now I am terrified that I have harmed people and not sure what to do. I guess I feel very guilty that I was probably exposed to the virus in my past and have since engaged in sexual activity. I kept telling myself that I had been tested and was ok but obviously now that seems wrong.
Thank you Terri.

Sorry, somehow I missed this

It is very unlikely that you are infected orally – HSV 2 does not like the mouth and rarely inhabits or recurs there that we can determine. Do you know if you have HSV 1 or not?

That depends upon 1) if you are infected and 2) when you got infected and 3) if he has HSV 2 already and doesnt’ know it or didn’t disclose. People are most contagious in the first 6 months of being infected.

When did you last have sex with your boyfriend that has HSV 2? How long after your last intercourse did you test most recently?
